• The 7MGTE block is almost identical to the 5M. The front motor mount holes are used on the 7MGTE with the 5M motor mounts.

  • The AC and power steering brackets fit ON TOP of the motor mounts. As previously noted, the 7M AC bracket needs to be modified to fit over the 5M engine mount.

  • The 5M uses support brackets from the engine to transmission. These need to be transfered to the 7MGTE. The engine block turbo support bracket needs a spacer to properly mount over these support brackets.

  • Next, you'll need to install your intercooler and IC Pipes. This will take a bit of negotiating to get them to install.

  • Remote Oil filter. I first installed the oil filter directly to the block. To remove/install the filter, it requires removing the IC hose. I will be installing the remote oil filter when I have time to properly route the hoses.

  • The power steering pump line bolt right up. The other hose connects directly to the resivoir outlet.
The AFM and the HKS air filter are rather long. They just sit in place. A custom bracket would be a good idea to hold the AFM in place.
The 7MGTE ignitor mounts where the old coil ignitor setup was located. The 7MGTE fuel injector resistor mounts at the same location as the old 5M resistor. You'll need to transfer the mounting plate from the 5M resistor to the 7MGTE.
The stock MK2 fan shroud is too tight to fit. You can skip the shroud install, trim the shroud or go with an electric fan setup. The upper radiator hose is from the donor 7MGTE, cut to fit.
The 5M charcoal canister needs to be removed, then a smaller one installed. I used one from a Mazda RX-7. Some Honda charcoal canisters are even smaller. The washer bottle is from an earlier MK2.
Some 7M motors have an extra engine heater pipe outlet on the passenger side. It's usually capped. My 89 7MGTE did not have this, so I cut and welded this pipe extenion from my 5M motor to the 7MGTE water pipe. This made installing the heater host much easier. The 7MGTE heater outlet on the driver's side was capped. (This is a picture of the passenger rear head section)

Lower section of the 3" stainless mandrel bent downpipe. I used two 45 degree bends, one flex section and a short 30 degree bend to connect to the 3\" catalytic converter. These downpipe parts were obtained from Brullen Exhaust.
