What to look out for when buying a MKII

• Rust inside rear fenders
• Rust underneath the front spoiler attachment
• Rusty side panels on the doors and rear fenders
• Rusty radiator
• Rust on inside seams of doors
• Rust by rear seatbelts (remove rear seat, leaky sunroof or clogged drain lines)
• Hatch rust (remove hatch trim to see if starting)
• Rust on rear shock towers
• Worn automatic windows
• Faulty heater contact (1^st and 2^nd settings don’t work)
• Any, ANY wrong sounds from the differential
• Any wrong sounds from the drive shaft
• A/C function
• Fog lights (rust)
• Door hinges
• Sticky valve lifters (5MGE has hydryalyc lifters)
• Worn front wheel bearings
• No jumping out of gear (if a manual)
• Digital meter function
• Ignitor
• Warped rotors (sign of over-torqued lug nuts)
• Wiper motor (not common but expensive @$300)
