Quick and Malloy,
Who pays the expenses for setting up and maintaining the celicasupra.com forum? As far as that goes, who paid for the old group list on Yahoo? I belong to a forum for another car (almost exactly the same format as for this one) and the expenses are paid through our annual dues.

Hi Bobby,
a. Yahoo is free. Cost the original folks no $ and about 15minutes of their time to setup. It has remained unchanged and largely unmoderated since 1998.
b. I pay for this site. I have had a few generous contributions from members, and I sell stickers to make a few bucks. I havent sold many stickers, so that isnt exactly a notable income.

One option is giving all of the paid members a little 'I paid so I rule' image under their names... that's what they do on clublexus, is300.net etc etc.
That reminds me -- I haven't kicked in this year yet. :)

Mike,
I'd consider buying a few window stickers from you if they are stickers that you put on the inside window. Possibly white??? They'd help us Supra nuts get more attention to the site, possibly new members, cause I know I'm not the only one in my town with a MKII Supra. I can think of 3 other ones around town right now.

I appreciate the support guys. Chris, that is acool idea. I will approach that if I need it. Things seem to be decent nowadays.
FYI: Im in the process of planning the 2004 cs.com calendar. This is going to be a big show, or no show event. I will come FW with details as I gather them. I suspect they wont be much more $ than the ones Mr Dupler did. When I sell those, I will not make a penny on them, since they will be $20+ to start. I will be happy to break even.
I may even start the clothing line back up again (haha)

I think the calendar should contain action shots in addition to the still shots.

How about a celicasupra.com forum member's photo contest, must be high enough quality, leave the judging up to a panel of supra lovers (maybe the whole forum). Could save you lots of time running about taking pictures, plus would be cool for people to see a certain car in the calendar, then come to the forum and see the same car in someone's siggy or avatar. Be like, "HEY! thats the guy from the calendar."

Are you looking for show queen-esque quality cars, or would a primered beast romping the hell outta some turns be to your liking?

Sorry folks, but bringing this thread back to the original topic....
Malloy pays all the expenses for this forum and cs.com. Several of us have supported Mike's efforts whenever He has asked. Several more of you have offered support.
I would like to suggest that we do a PBS style fund raiser once a year. April, for this year maybe in January in the future. I'd suggest that we limit the fund raising to 1 month in duration (maybe shorter). Donations could be made via paypal, check or money order although Mike might prefer paypal only. (but He didn't send the LJM strut bar check back)
My plan would be that anyone who wanted to, on a voluntary basis, could contribute as much (or as little  ) as they wanted. No minimums. However, to make things interesting I would suggest we agree to catagories just like most PBS stations do and set something up like
$15.00 You get a set of cs.com stickers (your choice of colors)
$20.00 You get a coffeecup with a cs.com logo (got it coverd Malloy)
$25.00 You get a MKII T-shirt (your choice of colors and designs)
$35.00 You get a 2004 calendar (when they come out later this year)
This way, anyone who wants, can help support the website and forum and get something to show off your Supra pride in return as well. :D This also keeps Mike from having to ask for help if we just establish a set time period.
If this is unsuccessful (I don't believe it will be....unsuccessful that is) then there are those of us who will see that MM gets help.
Mike is already aware of this idea, and with some MAJOR arm twisting :grab: has agreed
What do you all think? Anyone out there willing to give this a try? I can get the coffee cups covered. I already have the t-shirts covered and hopefully, some of you need new ones. Give me some feedback.

As a contributor this sounds great to me, Les. We could have weekly goals as well and reports on the goals to help motivate people.
I think this would work well with the logo idea that I mentioned. Then those who 'pledged' can be proud that they supported the community.
I want the coffee cup and calendar, dangit! :D
I'd be happy to help in whatever way I can. I think the monetary amounts should be about $5 higher for each item though to help offset shipping, etc.

Allright, but those of us who dont have a steady income (students) might not be able to kick in right then and there. How about just sell them for that price, and then do the whole "contributor" smileyface next to your name thing as it comes. Just saying, because there is no telling when I will get money (still waiting on my "cop cremed my car" check).
As for the calendars, there is a place online that makes calendars that are about 2/3 the size of a regular huge calendar. This should be looked into. (A) cheaper off the bat (B) less shipping charges (C) those big ones are just too fuggin big. The last one I saw was the www.digitalblasphemy.com calendar. Sexy little thing it was.
http://www.cafeshops.com/dbcalendar
I dont know if cafeshops.com will allow you to over-price it and then have them send you the remains, plus that way it would be impossible to tell who kicked in.
Now malloy could hook up with them, you send malloy your money (lets say $25) and address, he can keep a bit for cs.com , then send $17.99 and your address to cafeshops.com. I'm sure they will print and ship privately, or without the public storefront.
Now as for the coffee mugs. I'm a caffiene-free-colege student. I am going to have to suggest cs.com beer stiens or shotglasses. I would pick up two shotglasses in a flash, I'd even sell my body if I didn't have the money on hand.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I really appreciate it.
Les: I will talk with you soon, we can postpone any April activity for now. I have some clothing and a calendar in the works..and Id hate to bump heads.
Quick: I will certainly modify the title of those that contribute. That is the very least I can do :)
Calendar: As stated, I have some kickass ideas for this calendar, and if I get what I want it will be a *1st class* production. Im trying to negotiate an affordable price, but I should prevail  My ideas so far:
a. minimal to no repeats from last year
b. 2 action shots, 1 Tasmania car and a kickass drifting pic  I think HOT can help us there...with bright polished stock wheels...it would be a bitchin' picture.
c. non action/race shots should truly be 'calendar quality' Im not being a snob, please note I didnt submit my black car to the last calendar. I just want the garage queen/restoration guys to get some love...They are the cars we all use as examples so they should be printed.
d. I may do something creative to incorporate most forum members too, who constitute the masses with cars that are driven. Maybey a sidebar kinda thing on each month. Like a faux roll of film with small pics of our cars.
More to follow....

Well, I'm down to donate some $$$ whether you get something in return or not. CS.com kicks ass and as a regular user of it I feel its only right to throw some $$$ its way. I think the PBS style thing is a good idea. However, I think those items should always be up for sale for those prices. If someone comes along and wants one, then they get one, and the rest goes toward cs.com anyways. And I agree with billy on the shot glasses. I would be damned proud to get shit faced drinking out of a cs.com shot glass :D

Nope, no wrecking allowed. I'd still have a "never involved in an accident" driving record if that cop hadn't run into me (not my fault). But that cop creaming me is funding a new bumper, fender, some paint, new tires, and a full suspension setup.
Mmmmmyummmyy... I'm getting giddy waiting for this check, the day I get it in the account, I'll shoot you a pm or something for those addcos Malloy.

Over on pirate4x4.com, they give the "members" a little red star by their name, allow them to upload avatars, and change the text under their name. Anyways, this is a nice forum and I hope it stays around. Thanks Mike!

I think the consensus so far is that we all like what you've donme here, Mike.
While we all know that you're not trying to get rich doing it (and we do appreciate that),
I think most of us would be very willing to chip in some money.
Let us know what kind of "donation" gets the celicasupra stickers, then the next level up that gets the calendar, and then what's required for the thong model.
Thanks!

Thats what I tried to get for the last calendar but since I put it together at the absolute last possible moment in October, people were only able to send me what they had. Only a couple of people were able to shoot anything special for the calendar. This year with Mike getting started NOW as opposed to October, if people will make plans to take their camera and plenty of film with them to autocross, drag strip, vacation, etc. then Mike should get some really good shots to choose from. I expect he'll need them earlier than October tho.
Phil
