fog light question

so i take apart the drivers side fog light and i find no damn light in there. looks like it might have been ripped out. Is there anything i can do for this or do i have to get another one? it does not look like these are replaceable bulbs am i right?

yes, bulbs can be replaced. As long as the socket is still there you shouldn't have any problems.

any place that has lights for signals and such will have these lights... just remember two things:

1) don't touch the bulb with your fingers.
2) GET THE 100w ONES!!! :mrgreen:

yeah there was a metal piece in there and thats about it. when i took the other one out it looked like it was sealed from the back. i did not try and take anything out cause i did not want to break anything. I read somewhere on the list here that you have to heat up the front and pry the glass off. if so what do i use to reseal it and anybody got a part number for the bulb?

you have to turn the rubber prong at the back of the foglight (case) then pull.

that's only for taking out the foil type stuff in there which some people do to make them give off a light more like a headlight, not to replace the bulbs.

Bulb is accessed and replaced from the back. Pull back the rubber boot and the bulb and wiring will be exposed. Its a wire retainer that simply unclips. The bulb then comes right out. I find the spade connectors hard to reach and undo because one is far up in the boot.

Part# for the light bulb does not exist. Basically, just go to your favorite auto parts store & look at pretty much "any" brand that has the H3 type bulb available. Prices can vary, you can find H3's for as less as $6.00, or as expensive as $33.00 for a new H3 bulb from the Toyota dealer (YIKES!!!!!). I paid $27.00 each for mine (because I bought the amber/yellow colored bulbs from PIAA, rather than white's or super white's (which I did not want)).

Personally, I would not get 100W bulbs, our electrical wiring for the fogs is not up to the task of handling them, considering that the fogs were originally 55W bulbs. You might be able to get away w/ 85W bulbs, but 100W bulbs will be pushing the system

Re: Glass lens removal....

Just a correction everyone!!!!!! The glass lens removal procedure only needs to be done if A: The inside of the foglight housing is rusted & you need to clean it up & repaint the inside w/ the reflective silver paint. B: You want to change the housings from a fog light setup, to a driving light setup, by removing the metal light dispersal beam that is inside. The rivets holding the dispersal beam in place need to be popped out.

Also... To Reseal the lense back in the housing, just pick up some Hi-Temp RTV Silicon.. Make sure it's GREY not the red stuff....
