I recently replaced all the gaskets and belts on my 85, My problem is getting the crank bolt torqued to spec??? I,ve checked a coule of shops and they want $100 plus. Seems pretty high to me. Any suggestions would be great. I've got approx 80# now.
thanks

I just put my tranny in 3rd, put the ebrake on and torqued away. It wont be a perfect reading because of the small amount of rotation but it has always worked for me. I just set the wrench on the high side of the spec.
I also put it in gear, then lay on it for a while with my 1/2" impact. I had to cut a socket down to get the impact in place (or you could remove the A/C condenser instead). I also used some red loctite thread sealer I think it is rated for about 200 ft/lbs. Held up great last time, hopefully this time too.
Ya your right this guy is supra guru????so he thinks. I guess my best bet is the loctite.
Thanks for the input.
