I really need some help from you guys since my car is very similar to supras. I would really appreciate your help, because I am frustrated to the point of wanting to sell my car
I have an 2002 lexus is300 5 spd manual: from what I understand it uses either the W58 or W55 toyota manual transmission used in countless other toyotas (supras, sc 300). Car was flawless till 30000 miles: after tranny fluid changed started getting sticky gear change when car sitting for more than a few hours or when outside temp cold (<40 deg). Colder temp=more difficult shifts. Symptoms are:when in neutral and not moving gears feel fine. If cold outside and/or car sitting around for a few hours then as soon as you start moving very difficult to engage/disengage 1st or 2nd gear. 3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse OK. It has gotten so bad that in the mornings I have to do a 1st to 3rd gear shift:2nd is not an option. Feels like 1st and 2nd are stuck in cement when car is cold and when you first drive it .When car warms up:gear change returns to normal and stays normal. Took it to dealer: replaced tranny oil with synthetic but no help. Replaced clutch, flywhweel: symptoms actually worsened. Once car has warmed up (i.e nl engine temp after 10-15 minutes) transmission works smoothly.
Dealer says:"this is normal, all manual IS 300s do this"
Desperate for any help or suggestions
Thanks
