Looking for a way to restore the perimeter 'weatherstrip' (missing) on this hatch cover. The 'inner' wider ones are fine.

Post from Chris E moved to it's own thead:

The local parts guy at toyota said the 85 'double wing' was aftermarket...

Oh my.....  Was this guy new????

He's in for a big surprise if he ever gets his hand on a 85 US Sales Brochure..

Well, the guy doesn't know mkII's, but does get me a good discount so I'm not rocking the boat

I pulled a '85 wing from a junkyard and was trying to order the gasket that goes around the outside perimeter. Anybody know of any good 'aftermarket' replacement strip?

Ken

I paid the price and bought them all new a few years ago. Except the lower ones, mine were still usable. Cost me like 80cdn for all the skinny ones I belive

The outer seals aren't that much money. I also happen to have the part number handy. You need to order 2 pieces of part number 76873-14020
Make sure you order 2

Do you happen to have the other part numbers for the double wing? I looking for the part numbers for the seals and for the little white clips that go on the top of the wing to hold it down to the hatch.

I too need a set of clips....Does anyone know the part number for these?? I called the parts guy, he had know clue what I was talking about. Some reply everytime I call..."If you have the part number, I can look it up that way".

If anyone has extras, I will buy them also.

Thanks,
Mike

I can get the part number for the other gaskets tomorrow. As far as the clips go, I don't have a clue what you're talking about. I'll try to find them, but have never actually seen then. I bought an entire Supra hatch off a shady character who was stripping an entire car in one night, if you know what I mean. I took the spoiler off that hatch and never saw any clips. Maybe they were missing or had fallen off? Judging by the amount of debris and dirt under the spoiler, I don't think it had ever been off the car before. When I restored my Celica, I bought a brand new hatch from the dealer. I also bought all new gaskets and mouldings for the entire car. I had the spoiler mounted on the new hatch, but with no clips. I've had it that way for several years now and have not had a problem.
