Can I change the compressor clutch for the air conditioner without removing the compressor from the block? Mine was making a high-pitched squeaking noise (I think it was burning out), and it is getting hot down here. I ordered a new one from Toyota, and am wondering the easiest way to get to it/install the new one. I just need to know if I can remove the old clutch and replace it with a new one without removing the compressor from the block. Thanks for your assistance!

And another question: When starting and turning off the car, I smell gas fumes. Does anybody have a quick response or thing I can check to see what is causing it? The smell is strongest towards the back passenger side of the engine compartment. Again, suggestions are appreciated!

Sure you can remove the clutch without removing the compressor......just take out the fan, radiator, condenser, headlight left wheel.........etc.

Trust me....just take out the compressor, lose the charge. That way you can see how everything fits together.
