I pulled the thermastat out thinking it went bad, but it still ran hot when it sits still could I have a vacuum line backwards or something, and does anyone have any diragrams of the vacuum lines , please help?

well for one when you filled it with coolant there was probably a lot of air pockets in the head.

the swap was a 5m-ge and so was the head, I know the water pump is working. the hoses are all connected.

Can't remember which engine it was that I'd put together but I know one time I'd just installed an engine in a vehicle...and it heated like right away. We let it cool down, and then started dumping coolant in...and it took alot! You're probably just low on coolant...and most likely have to bleed the coolant system properly too. Top it up and hopefully you're fine!

Are you sure the block you used was good? Maybe there is a blocked passage in the block/head? Try to flush it out if filling it doesnt work.
