My windshield wipers are not turning off. Why?

Two main causes I can think off.
1. Bad multiswitch. Most Likely.
2. Shorted out wire. Either in steering column, by the fuse panel or where the wires connect to the wiper motor.

Disclaimer: This is not supra specific information but rather common causes on a typical cars electrical system.

what about the motor itself? iirc theres pickup-ish device inside to tell it to stop

well its funny a lot of times problems that you think would be the switch aren't and problems with the motor seem like the switch...

what i would do is disconnect the switch and if its still going you have narrowed it down to wiring and/or the motor which in most cases the motor is probably bad.

i had that happen on an el camino once, accidently hit the wipers, and then they wouldnt shut off. i popped the hood and disconnected the power to the wipers, reconnected it and i was good.
