guys, i want to get your opinions

i've already got a good white ma61, and recently bought a super deep red one (buffy) with a 7mgte fitted, with the idea of swapping over the engine, wiring etc. They are both manual...

but, the problem is, the donor car is in a lot better condition than once thought.

White Supra:

Red Supra (Buffy):

now, the pros and cons:

White supra pros:
Paintwork is in better condition, looks quite good
Interior rocks (colour and condition wise)
White looks best on the supras (in my opinion)
Spend $$$ getting things right (radiatior, stereo, custom steering wheel etc etc)
Only done 140,000 kms
Almost no rust :D very straight body
New tyres
reconditioned wheels :D

White Supra cons:
Still needs respray
Interior rattles a bit, some things are a bit loose
Black stripes on outside and bumper a little shagged
Suspension bushes need replacing

Red Supra pros:
Already has 7M fitted and running
Neat on the inside, no rattles etc
straight body
Interior is in great nick
all dash works etc
Has an amp for the cd player
Tinted windows
245 size tyres

Red Supra cons:
Paintwork is faded and neglected
Front bumper off, needs painting
edit: found some nasty rust in the tailgate
The red paint is no way near as cool as white
The interior colour isnt too great either
Cd player is stuffed, and speakers have annoying interference...
Tyres aren't so great...
wheels need desperate attention
Black/white respray costs approx. $3000 aud.

So heres what my options are:

a) Swap all engines and running gear, so the white one has the 7mgte and Buffy has the 5me. sister keeps red one.

b) Keep the 7M in Buffy, repaint it in Super Deep Red, swap the wheels from the white supra.

c) Keep the 7M in Buffy, but swap the blue interior from the white one (or change the interior colour to black) and repaint Buffy either white or black... (also swapping wheels)

Keen to see what you guys think. Either way, one of the Supras will be kept for my sister. The thing is, I just love the white one so much :D

the 5me has got to go man. paint buffy black and swap the rims. stereo interference can be easily solved with connection filters.

I'd say take whichever car has teh best running gear, the red seems to be the one. The other things can be easily swapped (wheels, stereo, etc). Seems like u also want to respray the white anyway, so might as well just repaint the redpra white (if u really want to).

In my experience restoring Supras, the hardest part to restore is the interior because parts in good shape are virtually non-existant and incredibly expensive when the miracle happens that you find the pieces you need. Count up the individual interior pieces that you would ultimately like to replace in each and go with the interior that requires the fewest pieces. Now compare the chassis, particularly looking in the hidden spots for rust. Both cars you say need a paint job so only consider the body work necessary to prep for paint. Whichever is less work, that is likely the chassis to save. If it turns out that you need to swap the interior over, then you'll need to figure in a cost to do a complete color change, spraying underhood and all the nooks and crannies to match. The blue interior won't go with a red exterior but the black/grey or red interior will go fine with a white car - everything goes with white.

that one right there would tear me to pieces, white is a very very clean color on a supra (never had any problems with mine) but super deep red, is a hot color as well, if you go 7m with the white, and 5m with the red, the red color will attract more attention from the athuritys, whereas white is more of an overlooked color (not a completely overlooked color like per-say ford tarus forest green) but a supras body grabbes attention by its body, aside from its color anyway, so its really hard to say

*** like animals in the wild, cars must blend into their surroundings to avoid being singled out and prayed upon by local athouritys***

edit: found a bit of nasty rust, and a respray is going to cost me....

Oh I feel your pain... "I have TWO beautiful Supras and one has this crapy 7M-GTE transplant in it ... but there not absolutly perfect. On has a little rust in the trunk..."

THIS is a little rust!!!

Alright, sarcastic rant over. I'm a small, small man in many ways... :crying:

Seriously though, leave the 7M where it is. If both cars are going to stay on the road ... why bother. To me colours ... interiors ... and other cosmetic things are what you play with after all the mechanical bugs are squished ... well like bugs. Cars are a hobby, so there never really finished. Besides, you will probably stumble on to a parts car eventually and just steal interior parts from it.

Nice cars you got there ... :bigok: Option B)

Colors is really a personnel thing.
If you would ask me, SDR (85-86) is one of the nicer color
for the Supra (that just me!)
Your RedBuffy has an 82-84 spoiler, so it is probably Super Red (3D1)
The Super Deep Red (3F2) is really something else.

I would also keep the engines where they are.
You would be having 2 parked cars for quite some time if you swap.

If you change color of a car, eveytime you will see under hood, door jams, trunk etc etc with a different color.. I could not live with it !

Option B, but would redo the wheels and leave the ones of the white on it.
It is faily easy to restore wheels on your own. I know, I did it !
And nice clean wheels are so important in the overall look of a car.
