does anyone know what stock emissions our car puts out.

HC?
CO?
CO2?
O2?
Nox?

i want to compare them to what i got from mine today.

Idle:
HC = 426
CO = .50
Co2 = 13.9
O2 = 1.2
Nox = 180

2500 rpms:
HC = 231
CO = .55
Co2 = 13.9
O2 = 1.2
Nox = 308

My 86 last smog check before rear wheel dyno testing and NOX.

Your HC and CO seem high maybe a new cat is in order??

Idle
HC: 25ppm, max 120
CO: .01%, max 1.00%
CO2: 14.9

2500 rpm
HC: 16ppm, max 150
CO: .03%, max 1.20%
CO2: 14.9

what else could it be other then the cat? i mean my plugs do show that my engine is running rich. plugs are pretty carbon fouled.

dude, go out and get a cat, i just went through this with my 85, i had beat the california gross polluter limit by 3 or so points at 15mph, when i replaced the cat, it brought my numbers down to just before failing, also it wouldent hurt to test and or re calibrate your dashpot, (its puprose is to hold the throttle blade partilly open on decell, so that it dosent go excessively rich,

passing emissions for my car took
new o2 sensor
new throttle position sensor
full tune up,
new cat

but on the mechine, i noticed that the car would run super high on hc on decell, i also tested my dashpot and found it to be fubar
just a thought

arent you the one who works at autozone, IIRC, autozone guys get a 10 percent cheaper discount than us kragen guys

my o2 sensor (univ type before catalyst<-obivously) cost me 23 bucks
i priced the cheapest cat out to be 47 bucks
i ended up buying a used high flow cat off of steven
and a tps off an associate of mine
the price i paid for the o2,
and the one i was going to buy the cat for,
my tune up parts (exept msd wires and air filter)
msd wires i got at vic hubbard
and the filter i had to get from autozone as i didnt feel like waiting for it to ship,
all my retail expenses are based on a 25% discount
and overall it wasent that bad,
anyway, this concludes my small novel based on fuel emissions, hope some of the above actually helps -Shawn M.

Did you check/set timing? Is loop closing?

Yeh, but you replaced it on a diferrent thread, so it doesn't count here :lol: It's possible that the new one is bad. Did you check the resistance at room temp (~2-3KOhm) and in water near boiling
(300-400 Ohms). You can easily check it installed on the car. See the online tsrm for the correct resistance ranges.

Here are the California max. values for the 5M-GE:

HC: 15mph - 130, 25mph - 105
CO: 15mph - 0.81, 25mph - 0.61
NOx: 15mph - 1115, 25mph - 945

Hope this helps - Bob
