Can you switch over to the center console from a celica (the whole area behind the shifter) with no trouble? Thinking about switching it because my arm rest is destroyed and the color from the center console is starting to flake off.

I "think" the Celica lower console will connect to the padded Supra upper console, but I have not checked to see if one will fit yet. Will have to try this in a junkyard...
Only hangup's here: A: You will be going to a smaller storage bin. B: You will lose the mobile maplight. C: THIS is the important one!! Remember!!!! RA Celica's don't have Automatic A/C!! Which means that you will lose the ambient air temperature sensor fan thingy that is attached underneath the console!! The RA Celica console does not have the little vent above the ashtray & the way the sensor fan thingy is laid out, I don't know if it will fit within the confine's of the smaller RA Celica storage bin... You can probably go without it, unless you don't mind having you Auto A/C system being confused part of the time, because part of the system is missing..... I can't remember if this component is missing, then it's one of the reasons for the noisy "clickclickclick" noise from the DVV box that is behind the radio...
Some things to think about.

I don't mind losing the auto AC system since I never use it, as it is now. The smaller storage bin wouldn't matter either (hey, maybe I can fit a cup in that one perfectly?). Either way, thanks Eng, i'll test fit it next time I go to a junkyard.

I have a black console out of my 83, I replaced it with the padded console from the 85 (hate hard plastic), it's in pretty good condition if you want it :)

Thanks Tanya but if i'm gonna switch to the plastic, i'm gonna go celica just so I can have a chance of finding a better (plastic) arm rest. Those I can just spray paint black and it will look nice.

....air temperature sensor fan thingy ..... I can't remember if this component is missing, then it's one of the reasons for the noisy "clickclickclick" noise....More dramatically, I beleive it will go either FULL hot,or FULL cold.
You will have to keep it somewhere.
In mine, driving without it., IIRC made the Climate Control to go at FULL heat (that was many years ago...)

That's what happened to me. When I pulled out the console to repaint it (mine's a plastic from an 83) I had forgot to put the fan/sensor back in. The heater went full heat, and that's quite hot.

yeah when any component is unplugged it goes right to full heat, one day i left my a/c button unplugged and it went to full heat i was pissed off...middle of summer and no cool air from vents....whew that was hot.

Hey gage! If you want, you could probably recover your own armrest. Just get some new foam of the right thickness, and some vinyl (sp?) or leather or other cloth the right size, and I haven't looked at my armrest for a while...but IIRC it's quite simple to recover. Just an idea...then you stay with the Supra armrest.
(I say this cause I'm pretty sure one of my bros recovered a friend's center console cover/armrest for his Supra.)

I've got that center console piece you're looking for for a RA. The thing is in black too. 1 thing I've got to wanr you about is the padding. I've noticed that most of the MA interior parts have this sort of foam rubber layer on top of them, The Celicas don't have this, so the center console is not gonna sit srtaight with the piece of trim that goes around the shifter.
