I used search for this but came up with over 8000 post. I just need to know whan you short out the check engine connector my check engine light blinks 5 times. What does that mean? I found one thing saying oxygen sensor and or circuit and maybe computer. This engine came out of a crashed 85 and was put into a 86 all wires matched. What is the code saying ? Thanks again for everybodies generous help !

When it blinks, is there a short pause in it, followed by more blinking, then a long pause???
Here's how to interprete the blinking... Go here, then click over to page 25.

If it's blinking 5 times, it's one of 4 possibilities that I can see.. either a Code 14, 23, 32 or 41.
Have fun!!!

Ah, okay... You're getting a Code 52, which is the knock sensor (see page 26, it then tells you what page to go to next for diagnostics). Is the knock sensor hooked up to the engine ECU harness???

Nope, it's on the other side of the motor... Well underneath the intake plenium. Not visible from the top, possibly visible from underneath if you have a flashlight.
