Hey All,

Has anyone installed thermos onto an MA4x with a 5M-E? If so can you please tell me as I would like to do it on my 5M.

Cheers.

Are you talking about the custom air intake? Cause I read a couple of yrs ago about a fella who used the lid from a thermos in such a project. I'm sorry the supras are relatively new to me, what's an MA4x? :?

Thermostatic fans...

And why would the engine make any difference?

Any fans for an MA61 will fit, or pretty much any fans period.

Ross,

I got genuine Ford AU Falcon Fans to install tomorrow, I'll post pics of what I have done. I just wanted to see how people were able to mount the thermo switch as I am going to use the Davis Craig Thermo sensor which sits on the radiator with a copper probe in the top radiator hose. Also I wanted to see different alternatives in sensor and fans being used.

Cheers.

Check out the fan install on my website. I bolted the thermostat to the end plate of the radiator near the water opening

Thanks for that Wes, disadvantage of Australia is that we don't have the Flex-a-lite fans avaliable (from what I know and importing them is completely out of the question as I will get bankcrupt in buying it and shipping it over. If I could find Flex-a-lite cheaper and were avaliable in Australia I would consider it but since I couldn't find them the rest is history :( . My conversion works out around USD$400 for everything including wires, thermo sensor and the most expensive part fan shroud/fan.

Many people use Davies Craig fans which are Australian.
I think flexalite may be Davies Craig OEMs anyway

It's cheaper to get the AU thermos as the 2x 13" Craig Davis fans are more expensive :( otherwise I would have gone down that route.

I have the same sensor/adjustable thermostat that you're talking about. I'm using an electric fan out of a Volvo S80. It's made by Bosch and it was cheap (mine was used, they're over $300 new). My only suggestion is to add a master power kill switch. I've had mine run on (and on and on) and drain the battery. This would only happen sometimes but when you gotta go somewhere (like work in the morning) it sucks. The other alternative that I'm going to work on is to run the power or ground through a relay that will only be hot with the key on.

my 2 cents. i think that the #150 blasck magic here http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/html/black-magic.html is the right fan if it can be mounted. It blows 2800 cfm at 13.9 amps which is low current for that much air. Also it will fit the shroud better so all of the radiator is used for cooling. And the blades are relatively thin so they won't block airflo where there's a load on the engine such as at very hi speeds.

That's a nice fan, very low amp draw. I just checked Summit, and they have it for $199. I'll definitely keep it in mind.

They have the same fan in JEG"S for 120, it is the exact same fan, My friend owns a 5.0 and he put one on his car last week, he showed it to me in the JEG"S catalog on friday.

Here is link to it Click Here (http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=120363&prmenbr=361)

Note the 4 1/4" depth. u mite have to move the radiator ~ 1/2" forward. Looks like no big deal tho.

How would I set it manually? Is there a way to tell the temp of the engine with a multimeter or something?

Cheers.
