I downloaded the Toyota EPC and burn them into 2 CDs as instructed. I followed the installation instruction to the letter but it does not install ?? I checked the European p/n box and add A1 CD-ROM, A-2 CR-ROM, after pressing F10 it supposed to read the CD but nothing happened, just go back to the main screen. I am using windows XP would it make a difference ? Any help is appreciated.

This is probably a stupid question, but where did you download the EPC from, it would be nice to have.

You can download it from here http://www.yankeetoys.org/Docs.htm
Bozosku - No help I'm afraid, but sympathy. The EPC is notoriously difficult to set up and I'm not certain, but it may not be possible to get that old version to run with XP.

Hey All,
I was able to get it to work the EPC to work on my XP SP2 with a 20GB HDD. Though I can't get it to work it on my other PC which has 60GB HDD... Make sure the CDs have the right CD Labels/Title/Name.
I suppose it's the luck of the draw or just outright luck in getting it to work...
Cheers.

I could not get it to run via doing the install on my new laptop with XP but instead, I was able to copy the program files over from my old Windows ME pc, then edit the GCDROM.SYS file in notepad to point to my new CD rom drive letter. Now works fine. HTH.

Yes, this is where I downloaded the zip files. The program supposed to prompt you for both CDs after F10, but it just goes back to the main screen with the big TOYOTA sign on top.

I"m gonna keep trying, but I can't get mine to work, I have a 60 and 80 gig drives. Keeps telling me not enough room, so I"m gonna get my old PC's drive, format it and use it to set-up, then copy the program over.
The epc install program has problems with large hdds, or at least with lots of available space.
You can either install to a smaller drive and then copy to your large drive, or fill the large drive until you have only a small amount of space available.
I'm sure this is explained in the faq.

Finally... I got the EPC installed in my work computer without a problem, it runs on Windows 2000 but not sure if it matters. Guess I got lucky...thanks for the input.

sure would be nice to have a North American copy !
(Works fine on Win 98SE / 80GByte HD)
I think it does have north america in there.
It's not in select your location, but you can input it.

What input is needed for North America?
It appears I was wrong.
The euro epc has pretty much the rest of the world, other than Japan and North America.
Still, all the part nos. are the same, just the precursor is different.

I read the FAQ. I tried installing on a drive with 5% capacity free (approx 3 gigs).
How much room does this program take? (I know it's not big) but do I basically have to have just enough room to make it work?
If you guys can tell me how large the program is when installed, I can fill the rest up until it's right close.
Thanx

well, the FAQ said its about 12MB/disk installed... unless you want to copy everything off the disks to your HDD so you dont have to use them every time you use the program... its not working on my computer, and theres too much space (26.7gig)for me to try and fill up, theres only so much porn in the world, ya know. however, on my other computer, i have a drive with ~900mb free, so ill give that a shot when i get it up and running.
I think the epc was written when windows expected hdds to be no bigger than 2.5 GB, so if you have less than that available it should work.
However, I just tried it on an old computer I threw together with a 13 GB HDD with nothing more than winxp on it and it installed and works ok.
Approx 11 GB available.

grrr, this is pissin me off. i sat in a game today for an hour recording movies (these are massive movies, talking 700+MB/movie)... im down to 2.1gig after copying and pasting these fuckers in different folders, and its still being mean to me :( im taking the hard drive down to 500 mb, it better work then

I was just playing with the EPC.
It does not have North America available for the '81 - '85 Celica Supra, but it does have NATO (Canada and USA) available for '85 - '93+ Celica and '86 - '93+ Supra
It's probably when I was looking up MkIII parts I noticed USA available.

I finally able to install the EPC on my home computer. I filled it up with junk until I got 500MB empty space, then it installed OK. Funny my work computer has 12GB and it installed without a problem.

What happens if you install and then delete the junk taking up space? Does it still work?

Got HDD down to 600 MB's free, installed now, but a question, I don't see our supra in there. Only the MA70 and the celica's?
Did I do something wrong?

Alan G, you can delete the junk files after installing the EPC, it will run fine.

from the FAQ:
The EPC program is very old which means it does not understand todays
massive hard drives. There are two solutions to this problem. First, you
can copy random data to your hard disk into a temporary folder until the error
goes away. You can delete the data after you install the program. Second, you
can install to a much smaller hard drive and then copy the program to your
larger drive.
Am going to try to install this here and see what happens, looks like either alot of people are downloading or the server is just slow. Either way, will report back with a better way to get this working. :)
edit: Well hmm, Rich64N sent me this link and me being a :dumbass: I didn't check the date of the thread before I posted. Oh well, still good info for those that havn't seen it before right??

One other possibility is to make a small partition for it on your hard drive. I use partition magic. In XP,You may be able to use the control panel.. computer management..disk management to make another partition.
Or get a microfiche set for MA61/RA6# and a viewer to look up parts.
I spent a total of $65 ($15 for microfiche and $50 for a Eyecom Microfiche viewer) both from eBay. My last viewer I got locally for only $30ish.

Drive size bug was corrected in a newer version of the epc.. "just" get a newer one.. or you can start deleting or adding files randomly forever until it works..
or as someone said create a new partition just for the epc.. maybe put it on a usb flashmemory?(did'nt try any of that because mine works),..and general 2004 cd's are out there you just have look in the right place.
