What exactly is it that you're doing to your car to kill TWO rearends? How are you blowing them up? Drag racing? Launching too hard?

Yeah launching too hard with big bad tires does it. I dont get alot of wheel spin. It would be hard to with weight in the trunk and 245/50/14 under it. Last one was a second gear scratch from hell.

Maybe you should go here: http://forums.toymods.org.au and ask for SUPRAGTE. His 7MGTE is pushing about 400rwhp atm, he would be a good person to ask because he is using an F-series diff and 265 rear tyres.

Failing that, how about showing a little mechical sympathy? :P

To answer the question, no you can't swap the Mk3 Supra subframe without a LOT of fabrication work as you'd have to convert the rear suspension to double wishbone at the same time. It's possible, but I wouldn't even contemplate doing it.

A more sensible option is to mount the Mk3 diff housing on the Mk2 subframe; it's been done but I'm not sure on the specifics of the swap. It's still fairly expensive because you need custom driveshafts.

Popping diffs with a 6M with bolt ons? My 6M will bust second gear scratches, burnouts or w/e I give it and I never have any problems but a few clunks...

Several people on this forum have upgraded to a Tru Trac rear diff. Do a search and you will find several threads with info. The guy hooking us up right now is Sean at River City Differentials in CA.

Depends on what you are breaking.

If it's the spider gears (common), the factory spider gears are cast.
They wear out quickly with the LSD clutch plates. Driving real power
through them will make them snap.

You may not be experiencing wheel spin, but my bet is that you
may be have excessive wheel hop. At this point, whatever is left
of the LSD function, is pounding the spider gears hard.

Ring and Pinion? Less common, but I have seen pics of broken tooth rings.

Solutions?

True-Trac - unknown yet for serious HP, though an excellent
replacement for stock and slightly modified MK2's.

A-T-S. $1000. Forged spider gears, multi-clutch packs.
Long term, the best buy, assuming something else is not snapping.

Ford 8.8 IRS aluminum carrier. If one is going to the trouble
of retro-fitting a MK3 diff, I would go this route. Lighter and
you can have your pick of any gear set, LSD, etc.

Interesting! Do you have any idea what the Ford item costs?

$550US new w/3.72 gears

Naturally, would require:

modified drive shaft

modified halfshafts

front carrier mount adapter

Upper carrier mount (welded)

Same work as a MK3 retrofit.

The benefit is that you can get more gears and several
differnt LSD combinations for far less money.

This unit is slightly different than the one's on the Mustangs, etc,
but I do not know how much different (in terms of mounting).

Bingo! I'm on my third diff due to spider gear shearing (or should I say "destruction"). I used to do a mild burnout (often with wheel hop) before my launches with an untouched 6M-GE, Centerforce2 clutch, and alot of testosterone. Goodbye spider gears!

I just paid for my Tru-trac today, although I would rather have a narrowed 9" Ford subframed in place of the IRS.
