It has about 124,000 miles on it right now. Mods' include tokico adjustable shocks and eibach springs with an addco rear swaybar. The engine has an HKS foam intake filter and no cat on the exhaust. This car has spent far to much time sitting around since I bought my MR2 and I want it to go to someone who has the time and money to spend on it. Sale will include any extra parts I happen to have accumulated for the vehicle (energy suspension bushings, intake filters, shifts knobs :), old school radio  )

As far as I know the headgasket has a small oil leak and it appears that the engine burns a bit of oil. I've tried to drive the car every few weeks since it has become the 'unecessary vehicle'. I've changed the oil every 4 or 5 months while it's been sitting around. The differential has a whine at certain speeds even after it was 'rebuilt' at 122,000 miles and the clutch may be getting long in the teeth but it's still quite drivable and has been reliable.

At this point I'll take any reasonable offer. I'm located in New Durham, NH, 03855 for those who are wondering how much a trip it would be to view and test drive the car. Please email me at tikki@metrocast.net if you are interested.

headgaskets seal in coolant in the water jackets and the combustion casses from everything...not oil.

looks like a nice mk2 though. definatley has potential.

Actually the head gasket seals the inner upper timing cover and the inner lower timing cover as well. If you develop a leak there it will run all down the lower timing cover.

From where do you think the oil pressure regulator receive the oil ?
from a passage in the HG !
Also, the oil in both camshaft housing, where do you think the drain passages are for the oil to return in the pan ?

I stand corrected then.

I just wanted to know why Tikked "knows" the hg has a "small oil leak" on his particular car for sale. I wasn't asking for enlightenment regarding head gaskets from anyone else who hadn't seen the car - I've been through enough BHG's on my mark3's and mark1 in the past to know when the hg is compromised it's very rarely a "small oil leak", emphasis on oil.

It's what I was told by a mechanic who had last inspected the car. I don't remember where he said the oil leak was but when it stops raining around here I'll wash down the block and take a good look where it might be leaking. Obviously it can't be that serious as I have not noticed any significant amount of oil.

I had one bite and they seem to have dissapeared.

Well I'm going to give this a couple more weeks and then just see what a used car dealership will give me. I can only imagine.

I am glad that one's not near me or I might succumb to MSS. Looks like a Nice car, someone needs to adopt it and give it soem TLC.

Give it to someone that will take care of it, and treasure it. Otherwise, most likely it will wind up in the wrong part of town for a while on the way to the crusher all too soon :(

I figured if someone was interested they would make an offer ;)

I don't want to sell it to a used car dealership and I know they will not give me much at all but leaving this car sitting around all the time is a waste.

I'll take $1200 for the car, who-ever wants to make the effort.
