cold start idle timer wire?

does anyone know what color the cold start idle timer is? we just put an 83 engine in an 86 so the one connector from the engine to the car (not the ecu) dosn't match. so we're just trying to re-hook up all the wired by splicing them and connecting them. but when i start my car up when its cold it idles at about 500-600 rpm. so i assume theres something going on with the cold idle timer.

Hmmm....sounds like you need a wiring diagram manual for your 86 so that you can trace all of the engine wiring. Did you swap the 86 ECU for the 83 ECU??

Better yet, why not just swap the 83 engine harness and ECU into your 86. :)

yah we put the 83 ecu in the 86 car. i think its too much work to switch over the whole intake though cuz thats where all the wiring harness stuff goes dosn't it?

Pretty much, but I'm thinking that the wiring color code may be different in some areas on the 83 & 86 harness. I don't know.
