... in the ⅛ mile. :D I went to Irwindale's run what you brung thursday night races and my Supra hit 10.8's in the ⅛. I met an '84 P-type owner there but he had to leave because he didn't meet track regulations [long pants]. Well I learned that I don't know how to burn out with my Supra .. what an embarrassment .. I stalled so many times attempting to burn out because I was nervous. The first time I revved it up, and hit the brakes with my right foot instead of my left; I was so confused, then I finally got it. Well are high ten's a respectable time for a newbie in the ⅛ mile ? Also outa the 3 times I raced, I won .. none of them. First race: CRX beat me by a car length but I had the whole-shot. Second race: '02ish Civic coupe beat me by a hair, I swear i woulda beat him if i had 5 more feet of track. Third race: I was against a ~7 second 5.0 Mustang  and I red lit. Well that's it; enjoy.

Sorry about that, I've never really noticed this racing section before; probably just glimpsed at it once. :(

I know ⅛ mile sucks but I was off today and I know they have races there every thursday night .. so I figured why not try it out. Plus L.A.C.R. is ~thrice as far as Irwindale from here.

1/8mile is such a waste of time. Its only excuse to make your car sound faster than it is. Maybe because I always think 1/4 mile when I hear about races.

Lets see...for me 1/8 mile is 15 minutes away,and $25,minimum safety rules,lots of passes,VERY good time.
1/4 mile is 1+ hour drive in friday night traffic, could be 2+ hours,$35,TNT guys are at the mercy of whatever "club" racers are there,NHRA tech damn near, sit around 1/2 the night.
Guess what I'll be doing more often...............................

HUM thats funny.....1/4 mile track is 15 min away from my house and I can get 15-21 passes in one night depending on how many people come. the 1/8 track is probably 1 hr away...maybe two with traffic and they usually get 2-3 runs a night due to so many people going to that shitty track :D
the only downside to the 1/4 track I run at is that its at 2700 ft above sea level :runaway:

Boy the title of this thread sure is misleading. I was expecting some kinda worked MK2 runing 10s in the 1/4 mile... hehe

1/8th mile is the most important part of the race. better the 1/8th the better the 1/4. the 1st 60ft is by far the most important part htough, get that down to less then 1.8 and your good to go.

wats wrong with using ur left foot to hold the brakes when doing a standstill? id rather use that then my left foot myself, then again, im weird

You'd rather use your left foot instead of your left foot ? My feet were confused cause I was a n00b; if you use your right foot to brake doing a burn out then what would you use to apply the gas ?

Possibly, I mostly went with the sound of the engine. When something didn't sound right, I shifted .. jk.

Since were still kinda on the topic of 1.8 mile runs, my best was a 10.559 sec @ 67.34 MPH, with only cold air intake and exhaust mod, just a good driver hah.
