View Full Version : Getting brake dust spots off of wheels?

My wheels aren't in terrible shape (actually, they're very good) but the problem is they're covered in nasty brown brake dust spots, and I can't seem to get them off.

What's the best way to? I tried scrubbing with some Simple Green and a scotch-brite pad but this stuff is really on there.

Brass wool will destroy any clear coat finish (Unless your intent is to remove the clear coat.) But then again, if you've let your brake dust sit for long periods of time, it will etch through clear coat.

If you've got a polished wheel without clear coat, use an aluminum polish.. Mothers Mag cleaner, Wenol, etc.

We have a product called Slick Shine which is actually a paint detailer, works great on paint, and metal finishes. Removes haze.

yea, i know it destorys clearcoat but mine was shot anyway. plus, if you wax the rim, then wash it on a regular basis, you dont need a clearcoat. you could also but clear coat in a can if youd like and spray the rim whan your done.

dave you need to purchase a transmorphing teleportation device. Its kind of like a camera that will take the object and store it...then you can later move it somwhere else...
