Given a choice of asses, I'll take the second one. ;)
Back to the topic...yeah, I've got to try to find someplace relatively rustic here in the city to snap some pics of the cars.
When's the deadline?

By rustic you mean our cars or the location? cause i can give you rustic car....anyway ill never be in a calender this century so really wnot have to worry about it. unless you do a work in progress calender, or something like that

LOL!!
Rustic...like...not concrete, city streets...like a park, or a nice country road, like some of the nice pics in previous calendars. Not like, rusty, as in oxidized metal!

Sorry, not enough sleep last night. ;)

Do they need to be of mk2's?.
The answer is yes. Or possibly good examples of MKI's (so far my 81 Silver Slug has been the only one featured in a CS calendar (Miss May, 2004)). No MKIII's or MKIV's, they already have calendars for those. No other Toyota models either. It's basically a Celica Supra (or CelicaXX) calendar.

I have a couple of questions about the calendar.
The calendar I saw, I believe 2005, had a low resolution picture in it, the final printout made it look not too great. Are low resolution pictures being accepted again?
Also, 2 months had an indentical looking supra. If 2 cars look EXACTLY the same, are they still included?
Is it only outside car shots, or might we include amazing engines this time? Perhaps a picture in picture with the car on the outside and a smaller caption of the bling bling engine.
Finally, what if the car was in the last calendar? Is there any preference to have new faces in the calendar, or can the same car from last year get right in, since it's so nice.
As we know there is a handful of amazing cars out there. I just wonder if the calendar would be the same cars again.
I'm just curious, I'm not trying to say anything bad. I don't even have a car worthy of the calendar, these are just questions that ran through my mind as I was browsing the calendar.
CJSREDPRA
08-06-2005, 03:30 AM
I definitely remember that if the car was in the previous years calendar, then most likely it won't be in the next years calendar. Unless either Mike Malloy or Chris Clement can't find any other nicer cars for the next one. Don't think that was the problem for this year.
<------ Since the 85 Redpra (Miss January) AND the 81 Silver Slug (Miss May) were both in last years calendar, I didn't even bothering submitting pictures, I chose to let others have the chance.

That was an anomaly. Once printed, it looked that way...and at that point it was too late. We didnt expect that to happen. High res pics only are being accepted.
Also, 2 months had an indentical looking supra. If 2 cars look EXACTLY the same, are they still included?
Depends on the quality of pics received. Ideally, Id like to not have cars that look teh same, or cars that were in the previous year calendar.
Is it only outside car shots, or might we include amazing engines this time? Perhaps a picture in picture with the car on the outside and a smaller caption of the bling bling engine.
A kickass engine bay shot would be considered, but the lighting etc. has to be right. Getting the lighting etc. correct for a engine basy shot is usually a bit harder than snapping an exterior pic.
Finally, what if the car was in the last calendar? Is there any preference to have new faces in the calendar, or can the same car from last year get right in, since it's so nice.
See above.

Sort of......
In the 2004 calendar (I can't remember which month, the calendar is @ home right now) there is a 1/4 shot of both Agatha & the Black 83 that belongs to Dale Z (supraz up in Vancouver B.C.) of the 2 cars parked next to each other, but all you can see is the left front fenders & the left front wheels. Not sure who took the picture, it was either Don or Dale. This was up at a Suprapalooza meet that took place in August of 2003 down by the Frasier River area just south of Vancouver. Basically, it was a "fender" shot of 2 Black MKII's next to each other, but different model wheels (both custom wheels were HRE's, but different models.
So basically, it was not a head-on, or full length profile shot. In this case, I would say that Agatha is eligible for next years calendar.
If you want me to bring the calendar on Thursday when I see you, LMK.

L-Type's are also eligible. Final decision will be based on picture layout & picture quality.
We have had several L-Type's featured in the past.
MKI's are also eligible as well.

Dean (Slip) took that picture. It was taken in front of my house after a freak ice rain. Actually its happened 2 years in a row now, I got some pics of my car in the ice the year before...

We had snow that time too. The car in Deans pic is now my beater, and no longer has those fenders or bumper on it.
And the pic of Agatha and Daze Zezula's 83 was taken and submitted by yours truely. Here it is...

I wish I had had my good camera and the time to use it at SupraFest05 this last weekend, there was some great photo ops for sure. I will have to see what I can dig up for this years calander, its been 2 years since my own car has been in so its about due for another run I figure :p

You should try using this service to do the calendar this year, it should be much cheaper, there won't be issues with trying to get a printer to do a small run, and they will be avaliable for however long people want to buy them. They print them only when people buy them and you can decide how much profit you want to make on each item. Its a new idea from the guy behind RedHat software that allows anyone to be their own publisher.

No problem Graham. Everyone has a different taste. You like your cars stock if I am right.
Has anyone else had trouble sending large emails to Mike M. I tried three times now with BMP files but they keep on bouncing because they are to large to send, and Mike wants the best quality I can give him.

Find a computer geek to 'ftp' them over.
Often email filters have a 5 or 10 meg limit on the entire mailbox. So just having a couple of pictures in there will prevent any more from getting to the mailbox.
Another way is just to burn them to cd and mail them over in a letter. Those door things I sent in a 'letter', airmail, was $5 postage.

Pat, most ISPs here have a 1M limit per email so that's probably the reason. The best solution is to upload them onto the web by ftp like Ken said, and send Mike a link so he can download them. If you can't do that, next best is to burn them onto a CD and either send it straight to Mike, or even cheaper, send it to me and I'll upload it for you.

Hi Graham, i should get my car back tomorrow from the body shop so I will hopefully take some new pictures at the weekend and will most likley put them on disk as loading large files to the net takes a bunch of time even with 1MEG broadband.

Hey, I don't know when the dead line is but With in the next few weeks I can get some killer shots up for you guys. I'm a photographer (well sorta) and I've been itching for an excuse to take some good shots of either my '85 SDR MKII or '79 Silver MKI. I think the MKI is due up for a photoshoot.
I've got a decent canon 10d and 70-200 2.8L and 50/1.4 that will suit perfectly for this...
When's the deadline?

Go back and read the first post on how to properly submit photos and what resolution they need to be.

i don't think we should be told what pictures have been selected until the calendar is done and ready to go. imagine the surprise it would be to discover your car had been chosen!

Alright, I've seen nothing on deadlines, or what resolution (other then high).
I'm sending a couple, why not eh?
Hey Mike!
Julie Buchta-Davis here. Remember me? Happy to see this web site thriving!!
I'm just curious. I believe that picture on your home page - the background picture is my former '85 MKII - remember the one with 16, original miles? Am I right? Sadly, I no longer own the car but a relative of mine was googeling and wanted to know if a picture they found linked to this site, was my car. While I don't see the picture they somehow found - a similar front view of my old Queenie, I got to looking around for the connection, knowing I once had (and still do have) a web link that's no longer valid, on this site. I believe I recall your asking permission to use my web images for this site but never knew how. I'm honered you used it for your home page - if it is indeed the Blue Queen!!
I saw this thread for the calendar and was wondering if the ol' blue queen ever made it into one of these calendars? Could this have happened without my knowing?
She was the Vegas '99 Show n' Shine best in class winner. The blue queenie was purchased in April 2004 by an enlisted man doing service in Iraq. Ironically, this 3rd owner lives in the next town over from where she was originally owned - so she went from Illinois to San Diego, then back to Illinois! Maybe the new owner is a forum member.
Hope you don't mind the post. Hey, since I'm a full-fledged freelance photographer now, maybe I could get a photo credit on your page somehow!!?
Still have the '97 LE TURBO!
Cheers,
Julie

Welcome Julie! Thats actually greg Gs car, note the 84 spoiler :) Also, your old car never made it to the calendar, b/c I was never given an image. It would have been a great addition nonetheless :)
Im glad that your mk2 went to a good home. :) Thanks for stopping in!

Ah-ha! So it's Greg's. Good deal... not sure how I missed out on the older calendars. Guess it's my fault for not getting a picture out there but you do have one of my former blupra on the montage page - yeah!. Miss being part of the MKII club..
Hmmm... maybe some folks in Southern Cal area would like a pro shoot of their MKII for the calendar? JulieBD@san.rr.com
Take care all you lucky MKII owners!

HEY STRANGER!!!!
The Blupra is gone now huh??? Did it ever crack 20K miles??? Glad it went to a good home!!!!
Your car would have been a very good calendar candidate!!! But yeah, the owners would have to submit them.
Still have the MKIV huh??? Be prepared for it to be called several silly names!! The Silver Jellybean will probably be the first one!!!!
Glad to see you found us!!

Mike,
Threw a couple pics at ya. Too bad they are before new suspension set up, the stance now with the ST's and camber mod is just menacing. or maybe it is the pea soup primered fenders and facia. No it's the stance.
-Joel
HEY CHRIS!! How are ya???
Blupra still had under 20k miles when I sold her. Around 19k-something. New owner was having some probs with engine light coming on and I referred him to this list and specifically Phil Dupler. Never knew what became of it after that. The guy is serving in Iraq. Sadly, the idiot truck driver that came to pick it up for shipment put a dent in the driver side door when he put it on the truck! He had to pay for it - not sure what they worked out - I doubt it will ever be fixed though.
Jelly Bean? Must be those smooth lines on the MKIV...
Keep those old beauties alive...
Over and out!

Mike, I sent you my pics, hope they got through as I had to send pretty much every one individually due to my providers attament size limits. I sent 5 pics in all. If you like one let me know and I'll clean up the scanner crap and stuff on it asap.
