Hey people,
Just browsing and found something interesting. It is a CLEAR cam gear cover for 7M engine. I am wondering.... is that possible to have one for 5M/6M?

I am just an end-user, and I have no source for this production or group buy. However, I wish that if someone read this, and able to start this kind of production or group buy.... I am sure quite a number of us would be interested, right?

IMO, The top half timing cover being clear looks good with custom cam sprockets and is useful for inspection, but I think that entire upper timing cover made from Lexan looks crappy.

if i werent paranoid about getting dirt and shit in there, id run without a cam gear cover.
definitely looks sweet, especially if your driving with no hood on :D
ive thought about taking a stock cam cover and chopping out the middle, then installing a piece of clear lexan or plexiglas.
wouldnt be very hard, and should still keep things clean.
of course then id want to paint my cam gears... can we say ricer ;)

the aem cam gears are for a 2jz and have to be machined out iirc. they are not a bolt on affair. if they are someone tell me and i'll be considering buying them as i want to tune more power out of my motor.

A friend of mine has adjustable Cam gears in his 5m that are in fact from a 2jzgte

Mine bolts in good~
Therefore, it would look GREAT with the clear cover....
Now, I feel it's not safe to have it "uncovered"

I like the idea of a clear cam gear cover. Serves two purposes (at least to me).
A. Shows off your cam gears (esp if you have aftermarket ones).
B. If the the inside of the cover gets cloudy & covered up w/ oil & you can't see anything anymore.... Time to change your front motor seals!!! :runaway:

AGREE! Hope someone could sort out a way of this production... I am sure we will have a number of interests!

a clear cover seems a waste of money to me. as for showing off cam gears, big deal, means you spent a butt load of money on adj gears for prolly minmal to no gain, and you will have oil drip fron the front pulley if oil seals are leaking. there is a lil grove on the bottom of the front timing cover that lets it drip out. im mean seriosly, $130 + shipping for a clear cover to show off $300+ cam gears. i can think of a much better way to spend $400+

Where'd you pull 130$ out from? They're not even available for the 5m.

i can make one from parts in my garage, if i had adjustable gears then i wuld definetly want one. as for ordering one. people its plastic pieces, plastic is cheap, so are used covers from a pick-ur-part. get it, fuck up a couple times, and then finally make one really nice, will cost almost nothing and you can say you made it yourself. thats how everything starts, someone wants it and makes it.

mk4 gears need to be machined to fit from what i've been told so unless i hear from one of the experts i'm sceptical about it.
