Well, I'm a bit disappointed. Never really thought I'd have this type of problem, but I guess it's part of this internet lifestyle.

Just beware of John Pinkston, from Duncan, OK.

Lies, promises, more lies, took the money and ran.

Anyway sent a M.O. for intake plenum 5/26/05 to John, he was going to ship it as soon as payment received:

Nothing was showing up, so I tried PM, and posting again on his classified thread. Finally responded that plenum already shipped, from Oklahoma to California (that was 6/13), but no reply when I asked for shipping info and confirmation. Repeated PMs not answered. Maybe he went on vacation, or lost his internet again, whatever. It's now 6/29 and no sign of package.

Sorry to say this is going to change my buying/selling habits toward folks I don't know.

I suppose as tuition, this is a pretty cheap lesson.

Sounds like if he has ripped off others, then maybe we should file a complaint with the appropriate authorities, on behalf of all involved.

Yeah, I've got a friend with a house O.K. who's doing some work at a base in Ft. Worth since the marine base where he normally works in NOLA got demolished by Katrina. He said he could stop by John's place next time he's headed home.

I think it would make things way easier for everyone if that money was ready for pickup when he arrives. No checks please. Cash or postal money order only.

If it doesn't work out, then maybe I'll see if your friends and/or the Duncan PD have some free time.

Seems like he has been playing a similar racket for a while in the land of computer componants (google for "john pinkston troll"). Too bad I read this too late.
Of course he insists that you can't believe all that you read on the internet...
But theory and fact seem to have met up well in this case.

He'll be getting what he deserves at some point.
