hey guys just wondering which brands to go with the stock wheels.

-Ive searched tire rack and they all seem to come with 225/50/14 size. I wonder if that is good enough for traction??? Let me know guys which one to get, bfg, kuhmos and hoosier are my choices.

thanks.

be sure to get a drag radial and not a full slick. otherwise, youll need a driveshaft loop as soon as you run 13.99 or faster.

They're holding up ok I guess. These are the 1st set i've owned so I don't have any comparisons to base them by. Been to the 1/8 mi drags 3 times this year and have about 20 runs on them and they are starting to show very little wear. That is the correct p/n. Don't have any pictures to post cause i'm electronicaly challanged.

William,he's finaly hitting 2.0 60 foot times.I think I could still see the nubs after this last sunday,so really the tires aren't even broken in yet :p

thats why ya have to do a ice big smoky burnout before each run to heat them up good. speaking of which, i prolly ought to get a line lock before i start using the 275/50/15 nittos at the track. that way i can really melt them.

Good link William!
Just going through the required items at what times and thinking that somebody got hurt or killed and thus the rule exists puts a good perspective into building up a fast car.

yup, as long as i stay above 10sec, i only need a 6 point roll bar, trans sheild(cheap) driveshaft loop, harmonic balencer, a properly approved helmet, and 5 point harness. none of which are really all that exspensive.

might be a dumb question but wat is a driveshaft loop? I only plan on runnin low to mid 12's hopefully.

it is basicly a peice of metal that makes a u under the driveshaft the full length of the car. ours will be easier to make as the ds is tucked up. it keeps the driveshaft from dropping down if it breaks or a u joint breaks and catapulting the car, or if it breaks at the rear, the driveshaft from dropping out and flying into the crowd. plus, by holding the driveshaft up, if it breaks, it wont beat the hell out of your car as bad.

Hoop is NOT full length of car. It's about a 1" heavy steel strap, usualy mounted on the forward end of the driveshaft.......keeps the DS off the ground, and the car on the ground, incase of front u-joint failure. They don't like pole vaulting across the finish line :p

the one i saw was a peice of thin gauge metall that covered the whole ds from the trans back. hmm. either he went overboard or they changed the requirements.

seeing as i dont have one, no. ill chance it at the track. when they kick me off for not having it, ill make one. it only states when you have to have it with slicks. ill be running dr's.

min 1 nozzle on driver and 1 in engine bay? dude if i was going that fast, and invested that much money into my car, there wouldnt be anywhere where there wasnt a nozzle, id have one directly over my nuts as well. id be a waterballoon on wheels

lol. keseki. also, dont think those driveshaft loops will work for us. our center support bearing allows the ds to move. id be afraid that hoop would rub the ds and cut it in half.

Will, those hoops have more space than the hole thru the rear x-member."nice of Toyota to give a rear hoop as a standard fearure" The carrier bearing almost constitutes another hoop, add one to the front,NO way in hell the DS is going to touch the ground if something lets go.9-12" back from the slip yoke, you'll NEVER us up the freeplay in one of those hoops.

ok, so if i get a 1 peice driveshaft made when i go th400, will i still need a driveshaft loop, since the ds goes through the crossmember and that is basiclly a loop.
