are you wanting HIDs or "the look of HID"?

if you want "the look" they have halogen conversion kits at autozone(the kind where you change the bulb) for about 50 bucks, use them with the silverstars(bout another 50) and you'll get the "look"...

if you do this, let me know how they work, as i have been debating for some time now

i'm not 100% sure what i have.. all i know is that they are hella brand, and they have big "H4" lettering right in the center. i was too busy putting them in to see if the bulbs were replacable separate from the housing. i can only assume so though...

If youve got money to burn, you could always retrofit NSX headlights W/HID's.

theres some fairly inexpensive generic HIDs on the market now, inexpensive being relative to what they were.

Slip, yes your bulbs are separate. The H4 conversions are a new lens that takes H4 bulbs, you can run any H4 bulb you want with those lenses now. The easiest and most econimcal way to go if you want better headlights on a mk2.

Hella lights are part of the Bosch corp. Super good optics, one of the better quality lights you can buy. Make sure to get the E-codes if you want the best lighting. They are not DOT legal, in case you need state inspections. Never had anybody question them on the road.

I was going to try a NSX retrofit, but even used those things sell for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I have Hella E-code H4s (thanks to Malloy's suggestion) and I'm happy with 'em. Nice and bright ... very white light, excellent coverage in high and low beam light.

Very simple install, just like a sealed beam -- but has a removable H4 bulb is all, and no they aren't technically street legal but I doubt any cops are going to bother me about them.

Definitely a smart upgrade.

For my car I went to advanced autoparts and got the apc clear housing conversions and the high power upgrade harness (also apc). Then I ordered a set of xenon H4 bulbs to finish it off. The light is a very bright white with a hint of blue in it. The whole setup is so much brighter than the stock stuff.

They kick ass. I recommend getting Hella ECodes not the cheapo no names.

I bought my Hella E-codes here: http://www.classicgarage.com/classicgarage/accessories-hella-lights.html

Mention that you're part of the Mk2 Supra group, there is a % discount...but I don't remember exactly what it is.

Good luck!

Yup...Mike's right, that's priced "each"

You might want to take a peek at this site too. http://www.susquehanna.com/susq/hella/headlamp.htm Malloy told me about it a while back, but I had already purchased my Hella lamps from Classic Garage.

buggers (classic garage)... damn them for not pricing for a pair.

Easy $750+ for the non HID units. Add HID and you are looking at big $$$$$$. Then of course, you need to fit them and make them work :)

Since I had to recall my last post 'cause Malloy already answered it, as I ah.. was surfin' for naked chicks. I can tell you what I found..according to a couple of sites I visited, the only H.I.D. kit they think is worth a shit is from "Autolamps" it is presently 600 bones. Add that to Malloys' figure of "$750 easy " for the stock units and you're commited. Extra info on parts can be found at www.nsxsc.com/nsx parts, for brackets and stuff. I'm likin' the idea..

If you want a clean HID look go with Silver Star. They're made by Sylvania and which are used as stock headlights on hella cars. So Just upgrade it for about 50$ more. All you have to do is just plug them in like stock headligts. No mods. And also why change them to H4 Bulbs when you have to worry about them blowing out if you get finger oil on the bulbs! My silver stars look hyper white with a tint of blue from a distance..
*One of my bulbs are brighter than the other, i think it's because of the tilt of the headlights. Anyone else have the similar problem?

What you lose with the Silver Stars is the superior optics and beam focus of the E code H4. I am sure you can keep your greasy palms off the bulbs, if not denatured alcohol will clean them up just fine.

Depends on if you want show or function? The E-codes really shine in snow, fog or rain. There is no beam spread above the horizontal on low beams. With the 100W high beams you can light up stop signs a mile away. I first had them in Montana 20 years ago, great for spotting the BIG GAME on/near the road. Still have the round lights, original bulbs, have been in 3-4 vehicles already. Hellas are a Bosch of a light.

For those that are wanting to do HID conversions make sure the lead from the ballast is more than 18". Trust me, I've tried the HID conversion on my car. No room for ballasts.
