I'd like to get a set of aftermarket rims & tires, but I don't want to change the "overall" height of the wheel. If I go with say 16x8 or 16x7, what size tire do I run?

If upgrading to 16's, why would you want to keep the stock width??? May as well go up in width as well....

<----- 16 x 8" Compomotive CXN's, 245/45/16 Yokohama AVS Intermediates. The 245/45/16's are a +2 size upgrade from the 225/60/14's. Still has a accurate speedo reading & the reading is not off. This was the main reason why I wanted this size.

Supra5MGTE,

If you are looking to run a 16" x 7-8" rim, you will need to start looking in the range of 225/50/16 for a 7" rim (has 8.86" section width) and a 245/45/16 for an 8" rim (has a 9.65" section width). Because the 245 has such a wide section width, it does not make it a good candidate for a 7" rim. Each of these wheel choices will retain stock height within a 1/4 inch.

If you're going to buy aftermarket wheels, you might as well get the 16x8 +10 or +8 245/45R16 combo. No sense in spending money on aftermarket wheels if you can't get wider tires. The car needs them desparately.
