ok, 82 supra, 255 lb/hr fuel external pump.
on the stock unit it appears like there is a fuel pressure regulator??? or am i mistaken.
Do i need to keep that part?
Will i just need to get a banjo bolt to work with the pump and fuel hose or do i need to get a new section of hose and put new fittings on it to work with this pump?
the pump i'm assuming is a standard setup but it has threaded sections on both ends (internal threads, you bolt into it) for the feed side it comes with a screw in piece that i can clamp the feed line to, same as stock.
It also has another piece the same, can i use that on the pressure side? and just clamp it tight?

I was about to install mine. I have not yet, but I know what you are referring to.
How much did you pay for your pump?

it was just under $200 CAD iirc.
i'm really thinking a banjop bolt and bolt the stock line to the aftermarket pump, simple right?

it is a pulsation damper, you have one on pump, and one on fuel rail, you can do without on pump

Will take a pic of my install when I get home this afternoon for you.

Yes, please take a pic and show us. I may need to replace my fuel pulsation damper and I can't even find it in the TSRM. It's mentioned once only with no diagram or removal instructions!

this may be a little off topic but would the external work in place of the Internal? I also need to get a new pump but wasent looking fowart to working on the internal one and thought now would be the time to switch over to a external one...
will

the external can work i believe, it has been covered before for sure.
i think you need to swap over the external fuel pumps pick up for the tank though, so that means pulling the tank. Don't quote me, but thats what i think it is.
On Topic :), i talked to chimpy and he directed me to the right fittings to use and how to cut the stock line to make it work, if its good enough for the shit throwing monkey, its good enough for me.
PS: if you buy anytying from chimp, make sure its clean before installation. :)

Sorry these are not the highest quality pics, but my wife's car is on the ramps right now. Was going to do her oil change this weekend but I am doing it now since we might get alot of rain from Rita.

well I was just over at glenn's place while he was installing the fuel pump, getting in the way and handing tools :) he had an interesting technique for testing which way the wiring should go for power to the pump. hook up a battery charger, clamp bolts with the leads and hold them to the connectors on the pump... SPRAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY we both got a little drenched with gas, but uh, he guessed right the first time for which way the wiring should go. good job Glenn! rofl :zzzzz:
things are moving along, I fully expect to see this thing making boost come this weekend :woot:

you make it sound bad, i spill more gas on the side of my car every time i fill up.
i am ready to put the oil lines and turbo on now. I hope the fuel pump setup is good, but fully expect to be under there again.
Basics for hooking it up, screw in adapters for the fuel pump, one for feed, one for output< mine came with them. cut the banjo connector off the stock line. Use a section of fuel line to go from the pump to the cut end of the stock hose, use a fuel line connector. tada done.
Thanks chimpy, you made it simple for me.

I dont recall ever seeing a pulsation dampner on my 82.... wtf? I've had the tank out...... I'll say 5 times, easy, and have never seen anything like that......
Aren't the in-tank pumps supposed to last longer, since it "pushes fuel better than it pulls it"? I'd be external until I die, if I had mroe than one car w/ it.

you must spill a lot of gas on your car then :runaway: lol
kidding, I was exaggerating when I said it drenched us, it just sprayed over our hands and your shirt, since you were right in the line of fire. it was a bit of a "ghetto" way of doing things, but it worked and it took less time than trying to find a wiring diagram :good:

I am aware of it being on the pump, just saying I spent quite a bit of time under there..... maybe I just overlooked it....

so this is how i did it, haven't tried driving it, but cranking the motor over with the coil unplugged and it leaked fuel, so i put in the copper seal i forgot about on the pumps pressure outlet, and then put it back in.

again, thanks to aaron for telling me what to do and what size the fuel lines were.
