other than ammonia itself, is there anything that would give off a smell like ammonia in our cars?
a couple weeks ago, i was driving down the road, and all of a sudden i got this terrible smell of ammonia comming out my vents.. i wasnt running my ac or anything, but i had fresh air on with open vents... i figured it was something i drove through, ill tell you what, i think it burnt my nose hairs off.
fast forward 2 to 2 days ago, friday for those who cant count, same smell, same town, different part of town though. now i know fairfield is one hell of a shithole, but ive never smelled anything like that. same thing happened again, out of the blue, the smell of nose hair burning and eye watering ammonia... my wife smelled it this time too and about gagged.
now today, driving to work (not in fairfield), as im parking the car, i get the damn smell again. not as strong, but it came, it saw, it got a frikkin t-shirt. by this time ive ruled out a smelly town ruled it out the first time i smelled it), and have moved on to fluids.
freon as far as i know has little to no smell.. when cold, i dont know about when 'hot', and i think hot coolant has sort of a sweet smell. so im stumped. anyone have any idea what this could be so i can try and fix it before i leave next week? any help would be much appreciated :)
