Trace the call, call display or *69/feature where it will tell you what number called?
Impersonating an officer of the law is generally frowned on, lol.
and tell the other kid to quit driving like an ass, i have had people say they saw me driving around like mad, and i told them to take a closer look at my car, then they did, and realized that it was a different car.
Either that or do something to make your car different from the other, more work, but if you wanted to do something anyways.
Thats all i can think of. Oh, and cops can't normally make a charge against you from complaints alone, unless they have multiple people who will to show up as witness in court to it, they will call and talk to you about it sometimes.

I think your buddies are just messing with you.
The local po-po dont do phone calls... they roll up to your doorstep.

that sucks that someone is screwing with you.... but keep this in mind (and tell your mom too)
Court dates don't happen without warrents
warrents don't happen without (one of the following):
1: Officer witnessing Misdomeanor or Felony
2: Person complaining of Felony to Officer (with some type of proof... very little needed) (Officers usually can not arrest for a misdomeanor on just someone saying they saw it happen, the officer WILL come talk to you though and try to trip you up or get you to admit it. In short, ask if they are going to arrest you, if he says no, tell him to have a nice day.)
3: Person swears warrent at magistrates office.
No where in there do they call you.... tell you there will be a court date or anything like that WITHOUT a Sherriff's deputy serving the warrent (weither it be by arrest or delivery). THIS IS HOW THEY ADD CHARGES. Then, it's official.... you have a court date. If they do call you, You tell them, if they have enough to arrest you on, then arrest you, if not, to not contact you again. (then if you really did do something, you'd best lay REALLY low and fly under the radar.... because they will be watching for a while.
Unless you are videotaped (or an officer witnesses and you get away) the officer is going to tell a complaintant... "not much I can do.... we'll sit for a while and watch"....... like that does a damn bit of good... but oh well....
It's probably too late now for *69, but, the phone company keeps logs of every call you make and receive, times, dates, duration, etc....
You (your mom) can have the police get a warrent and take these records, figure out who did it, and at the very least, have them do an "investigation" and personally contact the person or persons involved....
coupled with the fact they said they were a police officer... I bet the police will be more than happy to scare the be-jesus out of them at the very least...
A 'for instance' of the above. The cops here don't like me, I play hardball. I was arrested once for wreckless driving (by speed: 57 in 25, not a school zone) and I only gave them name, rank, serial number and that the "mouthpiece" would do all the talking needed. They were trying to get me for racing and one other moving violation too... may have if I would have talked ( I was racing... and prior to the bend in the road that he was hiding around I was doing in excess of 100 mph). In the end, it was reduced to 19 over w/ driver's improvment classes and no license suspension. What was at stake? 1 yr in jail, loss of license of 2-3 years, THOUSANDS in fines, fees and lawyer. An expensive lesson none the less... a little over $1500... one I only had to learn once.
wow... long winded.... I'll shut up now...since I'm on the verge of going on a tangent about how screwed up the court systems are....

I actually had a call from the OPP one time that said I was going as fast as the car would go. I actually told her that the car was faster than that (me and my big mouth). Turns out an off-duty cop called in the complaint but he had to drive like a jackass just to catch up and get the plate number. He was in a really lame Z23. Oh, well, I needed to slow down anyway.

Well they said that they would put it into my written record so that when I was stopped, and she was pretty sure I'd get stopped some time, the officer could start the conversation with "prior knowledge". Sort of an empty threat. I moved to the States shortly after that so it didn't really matter. I've been stopped since then in Canada by the OPP, and written up, but it's a different driver's license now and a different car (rental) so maybe it's not a problem...

An officer has to actually catch you in the act of speeding. Video of speeders only sends patrols to the location to maintain a "watch".
Spending money on lawyer fees usually gets you a reduced sentence. Lawyer knows the judge, the judge knows the lawyer.. wink wink.. slap on the wrist.. get outta here... all good. Lesson learned.
If you get a chance.. just take a casual picture of the other mk2 with distinct landmarks from your area. Just as proof that there may be confusion.
And another thing... don't be an ass on the street. ... never ever be an asshat in your own neighborhood. They'll be less likely to bust you if you have a clean(er) record.
