...every tuning organization on earth, every aftermarket vendor, everyone who has any interest in cars feels the need to slather some slutty looking chick across their ads and such? It's starting to piss me off that everytime I want to go look at something online anymore I can't without having some pair of over inflated breasts stuck in my face...which looks really good if you're using your break at work to buy a new oil drain kit from a "professional" vendor...:rolleyes:

Rabidchimp's website is the latest addition to my list...thanks Rabid-Chimp for making ME look bad simply because I wanted to give you guys some business. Your customers are going to your site to buy and price parts. If you want to give the kiddies their porn and sluts, don't do it on the main fucking page. Hell, you could have at least found someone with more than a pair of breasts to offer at least...

It's stupid how ebay is about the only place you can hit up without being assaulted with what other people think are "hotties".

What happened to "professionalism"?

hhmm lets see which attracts more buisness at sema, the booth with no ladies, or the booth that has 3 or 4 ladies in skimpy clothing. You would notice that the booth with the ladies is PACKED full, the booth without has 1 or 2 people like you around it. and your telling me that sex dosen't sell? You really need to wake up and look around, almost EVERY advertising campaign has something to do with sex in it. Even if it's car parts or not. Sex is the number one thing in america that sells, seriously.

I don't think there's a point to doing it on the internet, but when you're at a show it helps draw attention from guys, which is the main consumer of car parts.
Ask a woman, they notice you look at tits. They notice you'll cross the street to get a nice look at a blond with nice boobs.

yeah...lots of half naken sluts attract lots of guys to the area...but how many of those guys are buying anything? How many are there to look at the sluts?

I agree its kind of annoying, especially in the import world where its in every ad. But, sex does sell, especially considering guys are 90% of the audience. IIRC isn't pornography the biggest e-business combined? BTW I think the Rabidchimp thing was just a joke.

A local vendor of a very popular wheel line, hired models for the first time at SEMA.... the whole focus of the booth got lost as the "Naughty schoolgirls" brought in more penniless peeping tom's than business.

Last year SEMA became the pro-ballers' and hookers' tour with emphasis on who can bring the biggest pro-star as well as who can have the most scanitly clad model in their booth. A lot were obvious nip-n-tucks.

I remember a PRI show one year where a crowd had gathered around a booth with a woman signing posters. Expecting to see this bombshell, I went to investigate. ... only to find a middle aged woman who been ridden hard and left out in the sun. :rippedhan

In Japan at the Tokyo Auto Salon, you can expect at least 1 to 2 models per booth.

Admittedly, this is a male dominated market with old-world values. As much as people try to become PC... Skin wins.

If you know who your clientele is.. then models are only necessary to introduce a clothing line... ahemm... any Rabid Chimp T-shirts coming out in the near future? :facesjump

The adult entertainment industry has entered the aftermarket world. First you had Pornstar.. now you have Vivid Wheels (yes from Vivid Entertainment).

Adult entertainment both in its artistic as well as pornographic modes are the biggest business..period.

Hey guys......it is pretty much just for fun. I don't get into the overuse of models, etc...in the car industry, and sigh when I see skin all over a car mag. Its a car mag, not a skin mag. Ya know? I'd rather it be without. My buddy photochopped the pic, and I decided to put it up there for a bit - - - its not there to attract sales. You guys/gals probably know by now that I'm pretty much low key...don't do much advertising (except to help a bruddah out..like sponsorship on cs.com and SILV 05). I'm not about the in-your-face action, and really don't do the "salesman" thing, but I also like to have a little fun with the business. If you judge my business based on a pic on the front page...you might be making the wrong decision. Its just a jpg. Don't look at it.

You must be blind or something because Aarons hosted pic isn't even a measureable percentage of the trash viewable by simply looking to buy parts for cars.

I have the ideas straight, and it's my opinion that you're totally over reacting to the photo. I still believe that BY USING RABIDCHIMP.COM as part of your example, it's just not cool -- he's a nice guy and a long time member of our site. I agree, last years SEMA was a little out to lunch (especially the wheel & tire show). However, there was still lots of good information and parts to look at, even hidden behind the scantily clad girls. I was there for the parts and the cars, but I'm not going to bitch because there was lots of "sluts" there. None of them physically stopped me from checking out the new vendors and parts....

The girls may attract non-buyers as you say, but marketing is all about getting attention and getting your name known which the girls did well.

It'd be wiser next time, to use an example where the person behind the company has done HUGE things for the mkII community. A guy who many people around here respect and strongly support.

Ok say your defeating your own cause here. I always love it when people talk about values then proceed to break them. YOU ARE CURSING on the forum what about the people that see the f-word all over the screen? I've worked in a office too and they don't like (nude or vulgar)pictures or lots of curse words esp. the f-word which falls under the list of words demeed grounds for sexual harassement.(yes, even if seen on a computer)
I understand where your coming from about the overuse of sex in forums, I personally was banned from using supraforums at work becuase of nudity and the curse words. However I would kindly suggest rethinking how you state things. So maybe this could of been a gentlmenly discussion about the affect of vulgarity/nudity marketing has on the general public, rather than a screeming match.
BTW Sidman I commend you patience in this matter, If this was another forum this post would have been deleted/locked and you would recieved a warning/banning.

going after Aaron, and SpeedRacer, isnt a smart thing, and, at least to me, his picture is nothing compared to what I see elsewhere on the net, and in magazines

btw... isnt work for work??? sure there's breaks, but, you're at work to work, save the personal net surfing to buy stuff for at home, when you dont need to worry about what might show up, at least that just makes sense to me
