Hello All,

After I get on the road, I need to buy wheels Simmon Wheels for it. In either 16 or 17 inches which style should I get for a 8B4 colour car featured as my avatar?

Also which offset should I get as in the future I am thinking of getting a big brake upgrade? I want to be able to swap the wheels around from the front to the back as I'm thinking of getting 5 and keep one in the boot. I'm not looking for dish either...

Any input/style preference would be great.

Cheers.

Great choice, wish I could afford the Simmons.

You really need to decide on your brakes before you buy the rims.
I had a chance to see / fondle / drool at some 18" Simmons recently.
Basically, the engineer at simmons will ask you the measurements of the brake calipers to ensure the rims will fit the application.
On the back of the 18" rim, it looked like a 1" spacer was sticking out, but Simmons took the care to have this clearence there After confirming it was needed with the brake caliper dimensions.

In that case then, I'll better get myself into gear and start working on the brakes as well...

Cheers for the tip. I'll do more research on the brake section then.

The second style of wheel is sweet!

Oh, as far as styling, I think any of the four would look great on your mkII, because all four will have 'dish' :) as you call it in the offsets needed and custom made for you by Simmons.

I think the 18s I saw were the top right one, and was 18x8 +18 Front and 18x9 0 Rear. The front was quite a bit more custom than the +18 indicates, as the rear of the spokes (to caliper clearance) differs for each wheel shown. Kudo's to Simmons for such care in constructing wheels for the 'demanding' customer.

The ones on the upper right "look like" the F17's (is that the right model). Which is what Nick Reiser (FWD_Sux) & Jeff Sawyer (jefe_not) have. Nick has the JK BBK & his 17's clear easily.

Ross has the ones on the lower right, but he has the 15's.

Can't tell what the ones on the upper left are, are those the OM's (never could get a clear picture of the ones that Malloy/Jehan have, since they were Black).

Multiple choice, pick one. Lucky bastards since you guys have such easy access to Simmons.

Style of wheels from right to left OM16, FR17, Alta, B45.

From the website apparently they no longer make 15 inch wheels... Only 16 and larger. I've seen FR19 (19 Inches) and they made the car look like a tractor...

At least we are lucky in some things and not in others (like an abundance of parts and cheap cars).

Cheers.

Tim,

Thanks for listing the model names. Yep, the ones on the upper left are the OM's.

And yes, the B45's are indeed what Ross has. I think he did mention that these are discontinued (the 15's).

Yeah I'd say the OM, FR and B45 would look the best on MKII....dunno about the Alta... would have to see it I suppose. Like Ken said, you're gonna get lip with the offset you need so they'll all fit the MKII fairly well.

Personally I like the FR's... :D

I currently have B-45s, 15x7.5 front and 15x8 rear.
I would like a litle bigger and wider.
I think 18s look too big on our cars, and not 100% sure on 17s, so I think I will go 16s.
If I stick with 4 stud I could just get 16 inch rims on my centres (this is what Simmons does with B-45s, they never made a larger B-45 centre) and when I go to 5 stud, I just need to find a set of 5 stud centres and swap my rims over.

The wheels on the lower left looks like a style that only comes in 5 bolt. IMHO its a choice between the FR and OMs. I guess it depends if you want a 5 spoke or a mesh wheel. Get 17s as well. You have a much wider tire choice. Most of the performance tires are moving away from 16s. Most custom wheel places don't even bother with 16s anymore.
