View Full Version : Highest offsets on a 16x8?

Hey guys, I have an option to get some 16x8 Panasports, but they're 19MM offset. Will they fit my car alright?
And for future reference, on an 8-inch wide wheel, what is the largest offset a MkII can have without rubbing? Or, without having to use spacers anyways? There's tons of 16x8 wheels out there but they're all really high offset.

No. Not without spacers, anyway.
16x8 with zero offset fits all of these cars.
16x8 with +5mm fit on my '84 but not my '85 (caliper clearance problems in the back)

they will fit as long as there is adequat padding(for caliper clearance), though it will be close to the strut housing. maybe too close. id run a 10mm spacer up front and a 20-30mm spacer in the rear.

Checking my thinking.
looking at XXR501s 16x8 with 15mm offset.
1. if I use an 8mm SPACER, that puts the wheel back to +8 offset (stock) but the additional 1in (7 to 8in) wheel width produces an additional 1/2in or 13mm wheel intrusion towards the calipers/struts etc. Is this setup a non fit?
1a. All the comments seem to say that 16x8 -0 offset fits. Does this mean that using a spacer to bring +15 offsets to a -0 offset should take care of that fitting issue?
2. My lug length is about 25mm so an 8mm SPACER would allow for about 17mm of lug bolt thread tightening but the stock lug bolts are 22mm long. Is this enough and OK to use a SPACER instead of ADAPTER?
3. OR if I need to maintain the stock inner wheel clearance using a 20 mm (15+13-8) SPACER to achieve the same stock 14" wheel inner clearance, I will have to use an ADAPTER and not a spacer as the 20mm spacer leaves only 5mm of lug thread length for the lug bolts to use.
4. Just thought of this, what does a spacer do to the hubcentric wheel? Or would lugcentric wheels bypass that issue?

I'm running xxr 501's currently. 16x8 +15, these came on the car, and I'm not aware if they are available in other offsets but it does seem to be around +15 or +20ish, running with 225/50/16's yokohama S-drives
Up front with this tire combo you need 8mm+ spacer to fit, if not you will have tire rub on the strut tube. In the rear you need a large spacer/adapter, without it the wheel sits WAY to far in the flare (for my taste atleast), but clearance shouldn't be an issue...I thinking mine are like a 3/4inch adapter.
EDIT, the more I thought about this and looked at the car while doing SS brake lines +15 is not gonna happen front or back without spacers/adapters

Did you do some measuring? what #'s did you find? What is your year/struts/setup?
Your originally thought +15 would fit in back but wouldn't like the inset look. ??

Mine is an 85, stock springs and struts/shocks. I didn't do any measureing, was more focused on doing my brakes since the rear lines are a PITA...just glanced around while I had the wheels off.
The wheels came on the car when I got it, I started looking around after my post the other day while doing SS brake lines and the front WILL NOT fit at all without a 8mm+ spacer, tire will rub on the strut tube. I'm running an 8mm spacer right now and it's almost to close...
In the rear I'm pretty sure there would be clearance issues, and wouldn't look very good IMO because of the inset (not my style)
With 16x8 +15, with a 8mm spacer up front and a 3/4 inch adapter out back and 225/50/16 tires they are damn near flush with the fender flare.
