So I got pulled over the other night for my exhasut being too loud.....lol

I decided, what better time to get my exhaust and DP since the cop gave me a "fix-it" ticket. I don't know if the new exhaust will conform to their decibel standards, but it's worth a try to see if I can get the lower ticket.

So I dropped my car off at Florida Performance. Rob's working on it now. It'll be ready tonight after I get out of work. I'm getting all custom stuff, so I'm getting a 3" mandrel bent downpipe and a 3" mandrel bent full exhaust with a 12' resonator and a Magnaflow muffler. There will be only 1 flange between the dp and the exhaust so I can pull the exhaust or dp seperately. Can't wait to see, hear, and feel it!!!!

Oh, and the whole thing cost me $500 installed :)

I'll be curious to see where the 1JZ downpipe starts, since no flanges would be readily available. That is a sweet deal.

Thanks, and yeah, the deal is good. He's using the OEM 1J flange at the turbos, and on the other sied where the exhaust mates up to it, he's making a flange. I just hope it's not too loud. I've been using Rob at FL Perf for years, he's done all of my cars and trucks. I'll be sure to take pics, although they'll be with my camera phone, so you can see how it all bolts up.

should be plenty quiet. i have 3in from the turbo back, no cat or resonator and a magnaflow muffler and never been bothered by the cops for my exhaust, though after getting pulled over for my tag lights being out and receiving a warning, i started the car wit hthe cop right there and he asked what i had in it cause it sounded pretty mean. lol. told him a 3.0 turbo from a 88 supra turbo, he said sweet and walked back to his car.

1Js are also much quieter then 7MGTEs, with the same exhaust setup.

Thank goodness. I'm tired of loud exhausts.

yeah, now you need some rims to put some good tires on. i just grabbed a set of 17's, though not sure ill keep them. might sell them to put the money towards the braids i want. also, are you getting him to make new turbo outlet elbows? or keeping the cast ones?

I kept the cast ones. Well, let me say.....it sounds AWSOME!!!. I'm so happy with the sound. I find myself driving in one gear lower now, like instead of 5th, I'm in 4th. It wants to rev more, and seems to drive like that better now. It spools so much harder and faster....although even with my boost controller off I'm smacking the boost cut really hard. The car feels much better though. Here are a few pics I took with the phone....starting from the muffler and working my way forward to the dp.

That's cheap!

I'm using 316 grade stainless steel as a mate gave me 5 meters of tube for nothing... But the bends... they cost a small fortune...

You wouldn't have pictures of how your exhaust looks like in bends and stuff?

Cheers.

So far, the only pics I have are in that post above, but I don't have a picture of the whole exhaust system in one shot though. Yeah, it is cheap, especially as an installed system price, but I've been using the same guy since '91 for my exhausts, and I've brought him lots of business, so he hooks it up for me.

Kickass! My buddy just went to Dynamic Turbo here locally, and bought me an early birthday present. He bought me the HKS FCD!!!! Sweet! It was $120 and I'm gonna try and install it tonight. I hope it's not hard.

Yeah, a lot of the 3" mandrel bent system on the web are close to $500 before shipping, and that's just for a cat-back! No downpipe. I think I got a great deal, and it really sounds incredible.

that is a good deal, i spent about $200 on my full exhaust, thoug hthe flange was free and i welded it up wit hthe help of a friend, having someone else do it and install it for $300 labor isnt bad at all. i want to do my next exhaust dp in ss but dont think ill be able to as i dont have the means to weld ss. so ill prolly just do mild steel then pull it off and have it ceramic coated and then wrap it with header wrap as well to keep the engine bay as cool as possible. also thinking of having the manifold coated even though it is ss.

Well, I installed the HKS FCD last night, and could not get it to work right. I spent a good few hours on it. Checked the wiring a bunch of times, switched the white and yellow wires, and nothing worked. When everything seemed like it was connected correctly, I had the FCD set on channel 9 (although I tried every channel) and it seemed like boost cut was kicking in at a lower boost. I have the red wire connected to the switched power on the ecu. I have the black on thr earth of the ecu. I have the yellow going to the green/black wire going to the MAP sensor, and I have the white going to the green/black going to the ecu. Has there been bad FCD's? I'm seeeing if I can get a buddy who has one working in his MK3 come out and let me try his to see if it's the FCD or something else.

I asked, re-asked, and re-asked again before ordering. For the 1J, it's the STD FCD from HKS, and that's what I have.

Ok, I figured it out! Thank goodness, I was going crazy! I had the wiring all correct, but I went back to double check all of the connections. Well, you cut the MAP wire, and you clip one wire going to the sensor from the FCD, and you clip one to the wire going back to the ecu. I didn't use the clips, I soldered them together. But the power and ground wires, they gave those little folding wire clips that you use and you don't have to cut the wire, when you fold the clip, a blade cuts into the wire for contact. Well, the power wire's blade never cut through the power wire's insulation, so I said screw it and I cut the power wire and soldered that and the ground wires on (which I shoulda done in the first place). Took it for a spin, 15psi and no fuel cut :D:D:D So I turned on the boost controller and turned the boost up to 16psi, and the car feels incredible! I'm taking it to the track tonight to see how it runs, I'm only gonna have time for a few passes, so I hope I do well.

Last night as I was driving home from my shop, a C5 vette kinda tried me, so we caught a red light and made a run, and I got him pretty good (except he got me out of the hole a bit, but by second gear I passed him). So I don't know what that means, but I'm shootin for 13's and hoping for better.
