I found this site:

http://www.abxair.com/public/hazmat/ORMD.htm

Yannis is in Greece and his interior paint is in Washington state, USA. This site looks like it explains that "consumer commodities" like pre-packaged hazardous materials can be air-freighted as ORM-D. I think my snag is that it's going international and I haven't found a way around that. Is anyone international familiar with a way to resolve this? Economically, too? I checked everybody possible as a shipper before I bought the paint and not verifying-

not hazmat but ORM/D?-check
ORM/D and airfreight?-check and check
ORM/D and airfreight and international?-checkcheckcheck.

Nowadays I understand necessities surrounding security means no bullshit. Does anyone have experience in these matters? I think I'm missing something and it must be simpler than this. Please advise. Yannis really needs his paint gosh.

Um, nowadays it not simple.
I used to ship hazmat class 1 domestically on a rocket propellant I got classified by the DOT.
The details is in the strict labeling - size of lettering, the right numbers in the right places of the package and the interior packaging of the contents.
There are strict requirements on things like how many cans so many inches away minimum in a static resistant bag etc, etc. The packaging requirements usually require a Certified box even, certified specifically for that use and visibly stamped as such on the outside.

Nice. I have the original six-pack shipping box and appropriate labels for when it was shipped to me. I opened it to remove one can of satin black and replace it with the Patriotic Blue he wanted. I was still told that they couldn't ship it internationally but by the webpage it looks like they can. I'm hoping someone will clarify.

USPS is the only one that can go door-to-door for a decent price. For 7 pounds his shipping GlobalExpress was $44.40. There is just some confusion over the ORM-D labeling left unresolved. There doesn't seem to be clarity among postal workers and I'm not pushin' this time of year.

Ken-BAX Global should be able to help you-After 9/11, they were the only ones willing to help company I worked for at time-I Know that shipments to Hawaii/Alaska ORM-D need to be from certified shipper with certified carrier-Im assuming all that is already square and its just the Int stuff hanging you up-Aerosol is tough to ship-er, legally at least-cant reuse cartons to ship other product, either-Try Bax Global-PS- That abx website said usps cannot ship ormd international or air?

All right, thanks man. Yannis, are you following this? Crap about the carton. "...yes your honor, I put the paint in the lego box.....what's wrong with that?

I was hoping a member travelling regularly might know something we don't know too, like can't you just carry it on? It's not dangerous.

The certified shipper and transporter is so there is assurance that the shipper knows how to pack said item safely and transport said item safely. Certain items have different limits on how much can be in each vehicle / container.

Now on the carry on thing, that is now 'personal' travel, not 'business' subject to the Certified everything. Then it becomes the call of the captain of the plane to allow 'hazardous', if there is even an allowance for the captain to make such a call (specific to each commercial carrier).

I wonder if anyone has any other ideas? I will call BAX tomorrow and get the info. I found shippers but the price was triple. It is weird how there is a disconnect between markets.

The case of satin black came to me labeled to ship domestic, even air and we have strict rules. There is no prohibition for it to enter the country. Were it just black satin fabric it would be there in a week. I don't understand the difference.

Yannis said that I wouldn't get much more response. Anyone else with any ideas?
