i have a guy in sweden that wants to buy the wheels, but im not sure if its safe to take payments from there. ive seen some auctions on eay that wont take payments from certain countries and iirc sweden was one of them. any way to know if this transaction would be safe. i dont want to get ripped off. anyone had experience selling to sweden?
edit: btw, this isnt one of those scam emails where they say they want someone else to ship it for them and you cash a cashiers check or any ish like that. seems like a legit deal but i want to be sure its safe.

Don't use paypal, bidpay on international shipments is the way to go.

Not unless you want to wait 45 days before shipping it out. Paypal wont verify international addresses so all he needs to do is claim he didnt receive them and you're screwed. Non Canadian international orders are a real PITA. Wire transfers are really the only safe way to go...

so i should make a bidpay acct? ill do that then i guess and inform him im using that as a safegaurd and refere him here if he needs feedback. though i have to admit, all the international stuff ive sent hasnt arrived yet, sent a couple things to aus, great britan etc.. and its been over 6 weeks on the springs to pat but im thinking maybe stuck in customs. i gave him the number off the customs form and ins receipt. hope he gets the stuff soon.

ok, after reading the service agreement for bidpay, i dont think im using that. so i could just give him my banks routing number and my acct number and he could have the money wired? or how does that work? or should i maybe try western union or something if he decides he still wants them?

bank wire transfer is the safest way for you...
I have accepted international paypal many times, but there is always that chance that I will get screwed over.

Western Union is a pain in the hiney and sometimes takes 5-7 business days to clear. Sure you can deposit it into your account right away and see your balance goes up, but if you ship out the part and then get a notice 7 days later saying it was a forged or bad m/o you're SOL... It really is a shame, but these scams are out there and almost all international since there is little you can do

let him bank wire the money to your account or alternatively he can wire to me and I can pay you, we've done business in past. Bankwires within europe are free of charge. Paypal is fine as long as it's someone from the 'scene' I would say. I'm not driving up to sweden for ya, forget that :)

lol. well, ill let him know that if he's up for it. havent heard back since i sent the shippng quote, though time over there might be diff. shipping was like $575 total including insurance. not exactly cheap, but since he said he cant get any other wheels, might be worth it to him. i dont know.

If he's as desperate as I am for parts, he would be willing to wait until WHATEVER way his payment to you clears.
I notice how some of you guys stateside start complaining after a couple of days when you guys don't get what you pay for right away. Not to say that if you are on the mailand U.S., you shouldn't expect to get your stuff within a couple of days with all of the shipping companies that are available for such reasonable prices. You should try buying a cylinder head, paying airmail (priority) and then getting it three months later! And yes, I do live withing the U.S. postal system, eve thought it is Saipan.
Thank god that the people that I do business here on the forum and on the old yahoo list are willing to accept payments from me (even if I do asked the occasional "did you mean Spain when you were listing down your country?")or I probably wouldn't have been able to get all of the things that I have.
The funny thing is, the only time I ever got ripped off when trying to get some parts, it was from some dick head in New Jersey in the good old U.S. of A!
Ask the guy if he does agree to your terms and I bet you don't have any problems if he's willing to work with you. You'd be surprised as to what some of us outside of the "mkII parts mainstream" consider a reasonable amount of time when we can only get what we need from "the land of plenty" or Canada.
What's up Bob?! (My Canuck connection)
I don't mind waiting 6 weeks or longer for parts, if the price is like half what I'd have to pay locally ;)
