The big 3 are all going retro... Imagine if Toyota did a retro Supra...

never thought of that....

Although Ford has been somewhat retro for a while... Have any Toyotas gone retro at all yet? I cant think of any but I am not following their other cars..

Could this mean that there could be a new firebird coming out as well?

Personally, I don't like the looks of either of them.

You can't mix retro with modern, it just doesn't work. It's like red and green coolant, huge difference between the two with their own pros and cons, but really shouldn't be used together.

I like the second one better.

i like the first one better, the second one looks like its fat...the lines aren't as smooth and it doesn't flow like the first one.

I like um both, much better then the crap it turned into before getting cut from the chevy line up... but the second one from the back, kinda looks like an old (mkI??) MR2... ha

Ironic in my opinion, how chevy semi copied Ford's idea for the pony car with the camaro 2 years after the unvieling. Now, 40 years later, coping Ford's retro styled pony car. :)

Nice. The second one looks too small and appears to be a photochop.

On a side note, someone at GM didn't like that thread.

Sorry, GM/Scott S. has asked that every website remove the pics. - Northstar.

I wonder what combined halves they used the create the first one....some pretty ugly splicing was done down the middle. Ignoring that, I *do* like the way it looks overall.

Who started all this retro stuff anyway?
VW with the bug, or BMW with the mini?

I think Chrysler may be to thank (or blame) for starting the trend. The Prowler came out in the mid-90s after the concept made a hit on the show circuits back in the early 90s. Shortly thereafter, they introduced the PT cruiser. Altho not based on namesake predecessors like the cars mentioned, they are the first modern "retro" styled cars that I remember seeing. And remember, the new Beetle didn't actually replace the old Beetle and the original Mini Cooper was produced right up to 2000 so they are more an evolution of their designs.

The Viper is also very much of a throwback and debuted during the 1989 NAIAS, I believe.

I finally saw one on the street, yesterday. A V8 in silver. The silver looked awesome, really showed off the design well.

Mike, I haven't seen one in person yet, it's not too big like the Challenger is it? I like the Challenger in photos but when you see it live it's huge! I guess that's to put the body on a 4 door chassis.

Its def. big, but doesn't look as big as a Challenger to me. I think the Challenger is tooo big in person.
