Its so hard to come up with decent christmas gift ideas for family and I need to go shopping this weekend - git-r-done. Everybody seems to have everything they want unless they just couldn't afford it so well, I can't afford it either. My problem is lack of imagination I guess. I eat, drink, breath and piss all petrochemicals so of course I can't think of anything thats not auto related. What sort of inexpensive gifts are y'all getting for your families, nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters, etc?

well the generic way to go would be to get everybody gift cards, but thats a pet peeve to me. I don't know, i always listen to people that i'm around and get them what i hear them say they want...or ask their parents or friends what they like.

Just have an open ear.

Something someone wanted is always worth more, even if it has little or no value. Gift cards seem impersonal, might as well give $20. However, gift cards do hold value if they are to a store that the person really likes.

A gift that keeps giving is always nice, magazine subscription, a year of blockbuster rentals, something along those lines.

There area few things that I have always wanted, never bought for myself, that I never get as a gift. I have dropped hints, but for some reason I always get socks.

well if you don't know what everyone else wants, then you should give them what you like, buy them all supra model's posters, or buy a calender for everyone in the family, fill thier gifts with shirts/mousepads stickers...anything and everything supra.

Box of chocolates and a dildo for the gf. If she don't like the chocolates, she can go f*** herself.

Family now gets cards and goodies "cookies, candy, etc." Kids get what they have mentioned or put on there list over the year. The wife and I usualy go get something for "us" that we have been wanting for the house,This year,we get rid of our oldest kid......spending enough money on her wedding "tomorrow",not sure anybody else is getting a damn thing :)

Hot ticket this year and every year is electronics:

MP3 player.. 1 Gig around $59 after rebates at Radio Shack. No its not an iPod but Apple stole the tech from Creative Labs anyways (looking at my Zen Nano Plus that can record music from any source as well as voice). Thinking about getting an MP3 player for someone that goes running a lot.

DVD's... who doesn't want a DVD. Getting Celtic Women as well as Ronnie Benise Spanish Nights for me mum... she's into world music and since she spends most of her time in front of a PC or TV.

May throw in a polar fleece blanket with feet pocket so she can stay warm while tooling around in her wheel chair.

Giving a puppy too. Yes, I know.. shouldn't give animals as presents.. but this will be one to replace the dog we put to sleep earlier this year. Hopefully I can find a cute one at a rescue.

Got an Autoart wall clock for the neighbor last year.. then again he's into cars.

For the girlfriend - was going to get a winter reservation at a local hotel that looks like a castle... instead I dumped her for the holidays.. sorry, that was a gift to myself. :hahano: ... insecure bipolar biyatch.

A friend is trying to set me up with this "hot" redhead for the holidays... would love to unwrap that Xmas AM. LOL.

Got floating picture frames for someone... don't know who yet. Can either frame an article about that person or a cool photo that I took.

Gave a calendar of Mayra Veronica to a friend last year. He calls to say thank you every month.

A couple of years ago, gave a wireless keyboard with a gyro-mouse... the person loved it.

Giving a wireless mouse combo to another worker.. who keeps getting her feet tangled in the cable.

We gave a pass for a balloon ride to the boss one year. On the same note, I've been seeing sail plane rides as well as rides in vintage WW2 aircraft.

Leave it to you guys to corrupt a wholesome thing like christmas. Oh well, at least I know I'm not the only one here who's out of practical ideas. I'm off to the mall. If I'm not back in five hours, send out a search party, I've been trampled in a blue-light special stampede. ;)

pheww I lucked out... I was between sips

I've picked up my brother an inexpensive MP3 player. DVD's always work, and now their's all the educational DVD's for younger kids aswell. Car stuff always works, doesnt have to be our kind of car stuff, I just got my mom coolers for her new van. Got my wife jewlery (cant go wrong with that).

CD's
Everybody can use a nice fresh watch
Golf balls for golfers?
cologne /perfume
Im a big fan of getting gift certificats myself

and then their's the handy Target gift finder:
