I heard that if you are travelling at over 200 mph the police radar cant pick up your speed and jams so the police officer cant prove how fast you were going. Does anyone know if this is true or just a load of bull?

Damn, I thought there was another Supra in "Maryland"! lol......("MD")

Anyhow, I wouldn't test this theory. But if you really want to "jam" radar, you can buy a radar jammer....

Advice, leave it on & mount it behind the front grille so they will never see the damn thing & you can play very dumb when you get pulled over for going ???

Police laser radar guns are the same as what magazines and manufactures use to speed rate there cars..How else do they know a Mclaren F1 will do 230mph..You get clocked over 200mph your going to PRISON, not jail..

Sounds like a question for Adam and Jamie. Already one episode on radar myths.

If you are going 200 why would you bother to stop for the cops? you would have to coast for 10 miles before you could even touch the brakes.Have you ever seen a 200mph capable machine with drum brakes or something?

The entire Brembo system on the new Ferrari FXX costs more than many new cars...

Another note:

Radar jammers work until you get within 50 yards of a radar gun. That's known as the "punch-through" zone when the gun can accurate measure your speed. My buddy had a jammer on his car and it was amusing to drive through those safety zones with the radar speed displays -- it would jump all over the place then, once he got fairly close, read accurately...

200 mph is dangerous cause you never knwo what is going to be on the road cops being the least of your worries. Ive seen cars flip doing 80 when they hit a medium sized aligator on "alligator ally" in fl.

At 200 a rabbit would flip supra.

Remember the 24hr at lemans when the mercedes flipped? remember how fast it was going...... less than 200mph.

Way off topic, but the Mercedes flipping had nothing to do with hitting anything.

exactly, so if that flipped without hitting anything, imagine our not so aerodynamic cars.

I have it on, um, good authority, that the MK II handling gets a bit tough around 130-140 mph (new Supra, Nevada desert). Starts a bit of floating.

I do know that there isn't enough vacuum to keep the cruise control going above 100-110 mph. I found that out on Baja Hwy 3 going to San Felipe in 1989 (fine would have been $20, 60+ miles of nothing).

Have you ever seen a supra go 200mph with ferrari brakes?

I didnt think soYou don't even make sense. Supras cannot achieve 200+ mph in the first place.

I was responding to your first incoherent comment...

If you are going 200 why would you bother to stop for the cops? you would have to coast for 10 miles before you could even touch the brakes.Cars that are capable of 200+ mph, have the appropriate equipment to stop properly.

Celica XX, you dont make any sense. If you are traveling in any street car at 200 MPH and step on your brakes, your pads would disintegrate in a matter of seconds. Thats why their are parachutes on dragsters, you think they would be dumb enough to use just brakes? Sorry bro, but even the street driven MClaren F1 would take at least a mile to stop from 200+ (its all about feet per second). The racing version of the Mclaren is 500 pounds lighter, has larger brakes, and costs even more...It can stop rather fast compared to any street car.

Im also not going to argue with anyone from Oklahoma, cause god damn are they in the hub of information out there.

Batmobile, not only are you highly misinformed about your information, but your jumping to conclusions based on the geography of where people live is completely absurd and your immaturity is shining through my window like a bright ray of sunshine on a warm summer day.

Batmobile states : If you are traveling in any street car at 200 MPH and step on your brakes, your pads would disintegrate in a matter of seconds.

This has got to be the most uneducated statement I have ever heard. I beg you to reconsider so you do not misinform anymore people. What CELICAXX is trying to get across to you is that vehicles that are indeed capable of reaching speeds of 200+ mph, do have the equipment to handle the braking. Yes, the standard brakes on our Celica Supra's could probably not handle sudden braking at 200+ mph. But this is not what CELICAXX is attempting to tell you.

Here is some useful information you should read more into:

The Brembo systems will show their greatest advantages when braking from higher speeds, or when tasked with repeated heavy braking. The increased braking torque provides for maximum deceleration at speed, and the ability to absorb and quickly dissipate the intense heat generated during repeated braking insures that the braking system will perform at the same high level each time.

Short braking distances are guaranteed by the AMG high-performance braking system, which features internally ventilated and slotted brake discs at all four corners.

Also, to save myself some time, I highly suggest you do some independent studies on the McLaren F1 and it's braking distances.

Also, for your future reference, batmoblie, people will at least listen to your arguments [even if you are highly misinformed about the subject] until you throw something out such as you did...

Im also not going to argue with anyone from Oklahoma, cause god damn are they in the hub of information out there.

Your statement above shows everyone your level of immaturity and your self-embarassing ability to generalize someone based on geography. Aside from this, I happen to know that CELICAXX, although currently residing in Oklahoma, is actually not from Oklahoma, and although this information is erroneous, I thought I would point out another falsity that you have stated.

Good day sir.

What we need is an underbelly pan for under the car. The reason is the air gets under the car, and the air is moving at 120-150 MPH, and its dense air being so low to the ground. A splitter at the rear of the car would work wonders, as well as a flat one piece sheet that bolts up to the bottom of the car. A couple splitters at the front would hold the nose down a bit more as well.

while i agree, there is far more to it than just making a pan, If done improperly it can actually be worse, and cause the car to lift more.
I have thought about it and would love to try it one day too.
