This is BPU @ 14.5psi on an 86.9 degree day on 93 octane pump gas. My a/f is HORRIBLE!!!!! I need to get that emanage in and do some tuning.

Nice numbers. Can't wait to see dyno and strip numbers AFTER tuning!

Tell me about it. I think with tuning I should be able to see a 12.4 or maybe better. I was expecting 300whp, and I was a bit dissapointed when I didn't hit it.

Wow I didnt think 12s were possible with that kind of power level. Do you know how much your car weighs now?

Yeah, I weighed it at the track, 2900lbs without me in the car, so between 3050lbs-3060lbs with me in the car (I vary between 150-160lbs). I think it really comes down to traction. I get great traction on the BFG Radial TA's.....I'm also somewhat shortshifting by ear....again, no working tachometer to judge launches and shifts.

Traction is everything. But yeh when you plannin on puttin the emanage in? That afr is really bad up top.

Well, now that I've seen what my afr is, sooner than later, but then I still have to get it tuned at a dyno. I have a 1JZ "master" helping me out with it (he made 1000rwhp on a 1J).

This reminds me of star wars when Luke decides not to use his intrustruments in the fighter jet and sends a perfect "hole shot" into the center of the deathstar.
Let the force be with you.
maybe you'll end up slower with a tacho :kekekegay

I have the force.....it's the force felt in the seat of my pants from the solid steel motor mounts :p......lol
You guys should've seen the corvette guys getting steamed at me for whoopin on them. I went up to a guy in a C5 Z06 with intake and exhaust and asked him his time, he ran a 12.96 and I showed him my 12.77 and pointed at my car and his eyes just got red......lol

Yeah, I ran 12.9 @109 (1.9 60ft) with my 7M at about 15-17psi. My car was right around 2980lbs without me in it according to the scale at Englishtown in NJ. I never dynoed but I always thought it would be right around 300rwhp. Launching a MK2 is tricky but once you get that down... look out.

Possible with many different types of cars. Even a heavier Mustang could manage 12s with the right setup and driver. It's not so much the HP but the MPH tells all.

Very true. I know with a 110-112mph trap I can cut a 12.3-12.4, maybe better. I just need to get those 15x8 wheels and the 275/50R15 Mickey Thompson DR's!!!!

The steel motor mount cradles (the parts that bolt to the subframe) I bought here on CS.com from a group buy. I don't remember all of the details, but they're very nice. The steel upper mounts I fabbed up myself.

When I clear out some space at my shop (we're building a new loft in my shop), I'll put my car back up on the lift and take some good pics of them, they're hard to see from above the engine.

Having less power is actually letting you run the faster times. If you had say 400 at the wheels it would be harder to run fast times.
Instead of paying for dyno time, buy a logging wideband. That way you can tune it yourself.
1Js really respond well to the higher octane. That probably would have been only 280 or less on 91.

Nice numbers. I made 289 on pump(91) with 286 lbs of torque.

I have a customer here that runs the Dyno at Kelly Chevrolet, and he said I can tune my car on his dyno for no charge......can't beat that!
I will eventually do my own tuning, i just want to get the prelimary tune done on a dyno.
Now, how exactly does more power make make it harder to run fast times? That part I didn't get.

Thanks. I'm sure at 16psi it's making over 300.
BTW....beautiful car you have!

less traction, worse 60' times.
look at cheapspeeds videos, would vary more than 5/10's of a seconds in some runs because of wheel spin and launch.
till he got the drag tires that is.
pituala
04-11-2006, 11:03 AM
Well yeah, the appropriate tires must be used when adding that much power. I feel confident in getting much better times with the higher power.
oldschool85

Most definitely, with more power much better times should occur except to the point when reaching XXXX amount of rwhp.

The 60 foot times can be very important also. I have raced using 5.0L with stock engine i could hit 1.6 60" , finish with same MPH as my friend in a 300hp mk 3, but i would beat him by well over a second at the end.
With mt streets or slicks i think a 1.7 ish 60 footer might be in order.
pituala
05-03-2006, 12:28 PM
in my experience ive found the 60' is key. but wtf do i know, i suck at lyf3
You sure do!!!
Trade me your safc2 for teh emanage!!!

you want to trade an emanage for an safc2? why? doesnt the emanage do more stuff? and can it run the injectors directly? if so lmk, i might swap ya mine. lol. car is down anyway. :P

Well, with the Blitz ecu, the eManage will have redundant settings that I won't need. The ecu changes the rev limiter to 8500, gets rid of the speed cut and fuel cut (so I can sell my HKS FCD). The ecu is also set up already for bigger injectors, so all I really need is some control over the fuel to fine tune it. Is your SAFC2 new?

05-05-2006, 03:33 AM
not new, but it hasnt been in the car long or tinkered with. so far to this point its only been used as a knock monitor. i got it tuned pretty much with the maft. if your serious on trading i still got the box and everything. manual has some bent pages from bein in the glove box but other then that all is mint minus the mounting bracket i trimmed a lil. heres a pic of how i mounted it.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/williamb82/safc2.jpg
btw, i paid $300 for this thing and iirc the emanage is about the same price, unless he has all the harnesses. which arnt much more each iirc. anyhow, i could prolly hook him up with some other stuff if need be along with it. he's dealt with me before, thats where he got the 4.10 from, had a good butter smooth lsd in it too even though he decided to go truetrac with it(i dont blame him for that. lol.)
pituala
05-05-2006, 10:04 AM
It has all the harness's except the Boost harness, but it does have the injector harness and everything. Hey, you wouldn't happen to have an extra one of the little triangular trim pieces that mount in the corner of the door, behind the mirror for the driver's side, do you?

Wow Mr Pitula...Thats a lot of money well spent...whats next??
Thanks. I'm finishing the nitrous install tonight, I've been slacking on it for a while so I should be ready to spray this evening. I'm also getting some 15x8 wheels and a set of 26x8x15 slicks. I think I should be in the 11's soon enough.....I hope :)

i may, but it would be in one of the boxes in the storage unit, id have to dig it out. when i have room to dig ill dig for it. but yeah, im cool wit hjthe trade. just lmk. i may go ahead and get the boost harness and try that thing out since it controls the injectors directly, that way itll idle like stock and still have stock driveability. just need to get a laptop workin so i could tune it. lol

I'm game if you are, 1 SAFC2 + the little corner piece for my eManage. :)

This is kind of way off topic, but the emanage only richens via injectors, it does not lean (at least on the setup I have ) To lean out, you use the same SAFC type method, telling the ECU there is less air coming in. What the emanage does is like the FCON did, it holes the pulse open longer to get more fuel out of an injector.
Just to avoid confusion.

wit hthe injector harness you can lean it as well from what ive seen. theres a thread on sf;s that says it can compensate for larger injectors and i beleive that as it is running on his 7m. it requires the map sensor and harness though. ill get it figured out. anyhow, im not using the safc2 at all really so why not tinker with somethin new? then again, i might get bored and stick it on the 5m in the blue car just for the hell of it. lol. i got enought stuff minus the turbo itself i could do a 5mgte, though once i stick the gt40 on the black car my upgraded ct26 would be free, but dont think id stick that on a stock hg 5m. lol.
and yeah, im down for the trade. ill dig around for those trim peices this weekend. ill prolly just give ya the matching pair of them. now to check on the map sensor and harness. time to search ebay.
