OK I'm new here & have no idea where to ask this question :?:

but here goes..

Where can I get a Bonnet Badge for a Celica Supra (reg 85) ((MA61)).

Sadly the one on my b/f 's car was stolen yesterday and I'm finding it impossible to find a replacement.

He is very upset, to say the least and I was hoping to get the replacement in time for his birthday

Hello Bethy,

Welcome to CelicaSupra.com Forums! Having owned a Triumph TR-7, I'm familiar with the term "bonnet" ("hood" to us Americans over here).

Do you remember what the badge looked like?

Was it this?

Or did it look like this?

You should be able to get one from your local Toyota dealer still, although they may have to order it for you. If not, possibly a wrecking yard might have a Mk2 Supra on hand. If all else fails, one of us could probably send you one from the US.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any further assistance.

**By the way, what is a British Boffin? I know what it sounds like, but being polite...I'm not gonna say it. ;)

You could try Toyota Celica Breakers down in Callington, Cornwall. If you're not close they'll mail stuff to you. 01579 383879

In other words..as long as your Toyota is a SUPRA and not a Celica XX you shoud not have a problem finding badges. I'll send you one, some.. whatever you need free.. It'll be snail mail though. As we say in PORSCHE No old Supra's...Just new owners.

Hi. I was once an Englander also. I was born there but moved to Canada when I was 7...anyway thought you might like to know that its not a swan. Its a Greek Dragon :) The word Supra comes from the Old Greek and means: Over, Above, Beyond.

IIRC

Cheers :)

Nah, it's the famous Supra Duck! Sorry, old joke. When I next go to the local wreckers (I've been threatening to for yonks, but just haven't had time), I'm going to pick up a bunch of XX B-Pillars for some of the US list members who have put in requests. Last time I was there ('bout 6 months ago) they only had Supra Duck bonett badges, but if they have any XX big badges, I'll grab them too.

Also, I saw a pic of a TA-22 in an old mad recently and it had a pretty chrome grille badge with the Supra Duckon top of the letters GT. Anyone know where these came from or if they are rare?

cheers,

Justin

Now a supra duck sounds more like it, but then that comment is from an Aussie.... man after my own heart.. in the homelands.

Be good guys and keep saving those badges

But if we catch the shit who stole ours... you'll know who it is cuz his legs will be down his throat

My local Yota wrecker, who was a bit of an arsehole to begin with, has recently gone into overdrive - no toucking the merchandise, etc. All beause some low-life chiselled a Supra Duck off one of the bonetts in the yard. Bastards!

I live in fear of someone nicking my 2.5Tiwn Turbo grille badge - wish I could weld the sucker into place!

Good luck catching the wankers,

Justin

Unfortunately we are still unable to locate afore mentioned SHIT. Still have badgeless Supra...

*whispers* but I'm still having fun pissing off silly gary boys in there Ford escort RS's.
They see me in what looks like an old banger and cruise past at 60-70 mph.. only for me to PISS past them at 102mph seconds later...

Why do men assume women can't drive.. I am as yet to have an accident and regularly exceed the speed limits.. Hell what were speed limits made for but to Speed through??????

I would like to point out that I do not approve of speeding.

Particularly in my car

Particularly at 102 on a back road that's bumpier than the acne ridden face of the little plonker that thought it would be a good idea to nick my badge

Personally I stick rigidly to 30 and 40 limits - make my own judgement on 50's and when it comes to a GLF sign - well - GLF!

Does "GLF" = Go Like Fuck? -- or what?

ChestWigCharriot
08-20-2003, 06:22 PM
Indeed it does :D didn't want to say it and get my wrists slapped by the owners

For those of you who don't know about UK speed limits:

there are no hard and fast rules, but roughly speaking:

30 mph in towns, cities and villages
40 mph on the outskirts of towns / villages
50 mph on urban dual carriageways / dual carriageways

then there is the national speed limit - white circular sign with a black strip across it diagonally (aka GLF)

this is basically split into single and dual carriageway:

cars: 60 mph single carriageway, 70 mph dual carriageway
artics: 50 mph single, 60 mph dual (though they drive on the 56 mph (90 KPH) speed limiter everywhere :)

we're slipping further than ever from badges now - but I'd like to assure everyone that Bethy doesn't put anyone in danger when she drives at 100 + in the Supra - it handles the rough stuff very well :D

I'd also like to point out, as yet, I have never had an accident.. and have survived several hundreds of miles AT SPEED in my trust Kia Mental - and I do mean Mental.
It still surprises Gary boys, even with it's mear 1.5 engine with no punch.. or is that purely my stunning good looks and lead foot that leaves them for dead??

Few questions for ya

1) What's a Gary boy? (another dumb American question)

2) Is the Kia really "mental" or are you "mental" when you're driving it?

3) I think we need a pic to confirm the "stunning good looks" :D

Bethy
08-22-2003, 06:16 AM
in answer to your questions....

1) a GARY BOY is one of the silly (slightly older than teenager) lads who tend to drive Hot Hatches as they are called over here i.e Nissan Micra with a spoiler on - that probably does nothing for the cars performance but looks good (or not as the case maybe) and drive around towns showing off to silly teenage girls in order to get laid.

I hope I've explained that clearly, it's not an easy thing to explain.

2) Yes the Kia is called a Mentor, but it handles so well for a crappy hatchback on skinny wheels, although with having driving the supra for a while it has ruined my MENTOR experience completely.. it feels desperately slow and wobbly, even though for it's kind it's pretty good.... I'm told!

3) As for my pic... closest you'll get is the link from OMG on Chestwig's post above....

OMG! I agree with Mr. Chestwig completely - I didn't realize that "OMG" in his post was a link, till you pointed it out.

Yes...you DO have "more than ample cleavage": http://www.violetliquid.co.uk/images/bb1.jpg

I need to find a place like that to store my keys!!

Justin,
If you do go deal with the POS wrecker and can get some Celica XX B-Pillar's I got first dibs :P

I can't bring myself to deal with someone who says my car doesn't exist :)

Hey JCMF,

I've been planning- and puting off - seeing that POS wrecker for a couple of months now. FWIW, my black Supra dash doesn't exist either. And you shoulda known better - of course your supposed car doesn't exist. It's all a figment of your imagination. Oh, and the F series LSDiff he has - isn't limtted slip  ! Sometimes their ignorance can work in our favour.

When I do go, I plan to buy out his stock of B-pillar badges (sorry, Ma615mgte has first dibs on a set of XX badges). NOT the 2.0TwinCam grille badge. What did he want for that again?

Hehe, okay, if you come across any Celica ones then I'll probably be up for them too providing they are in good condition.

He wanted about $150 for the grille, wouldn't separate it. If he budges on price cos you are buying so much I'll probably nab that too. :D

JZA-61
08-24-2003, 11:19 PM
Jesus F**king Christ! $150 for a crappy grille badge!!! I woulda said $50 was too much.

When I last went there, I bought up big and haggled a good price for some stuff. I think the B-Pillars (whole, including badges) worked out to $Aus15 each.

I'll definitely go within the next month and letcha know what goodies I score.

My one is grey. The car is going to be sprayed anyway. Comes in black, silver and clear too.

You can leave it exposed and still have the protection, but the actual colour goes matt with UV exposure.
