Sorry for the newb question as I've only had my MKII for 5 days. I'm going to change out the spark plugs for the 1st time and noticed this site had no FAQ on the process.
(My search under "spark plugs" turned out 349 threads, but none with any kind of install info or tech article... just debate over plug brands, gap, indexing, etc...)

Is the MKII layout just so straight forward that changing plugs is simple as pie?
Any hoses that absolutely must be removed or changed to do the install? (MKIV's had to put in new crank hoses every other plug change)

I read that 14lbs of torque is standard? (I don't have an owners manual to confirm)

Thank you for any helpful comments

Yep, its pretty darned simple. Only pitfalls I can think of that unlike your mk4, you may be dealing with 21 year old hoses and plug wires. The intake hose couplings can be brittle and split, especially the power steering vacuum line and idle air bypass connector hose. Just be careful but they are available from Toyota tho. Also, check the date on the plug wires (Toyota wires are dated, aftermarket wires may not be). The conductor inside a very old plug wire tends to crumble to dust if disturbed. Again, plug wires are easy to get. Heres a link to the service manual...

I always use ND (Denso) or NGKs, and use a very small dab of antiseize on the plug threads.

You can remove all the plugs without taking much off the cam covers area, test fit the spark plug socket some fit too snug in the hole, you might need a wobble extenstion on the last two plugs towards the fire wall.

When reinstalling the plug wires the ends should "snap" onto the plugs, try to push straight down. If not very gently use a pair of pliers to squeeze the ends a little.

Thank you very much for the great advice. After looking more closely at it, it looks like the only thing I will have to remove is the plate that holds the throttle cable, so hopefully that should do it.
