DEADLINE: OCT 15 DEADLINE: OCT 15 DEADLINE: OCT 15 DEADLINE: OCT 15 DEADLINE: OCT 15
I would like to see:
-a badass burnout or DRIFT pic with some fat wheel lips :-) Big badass cloud of smoke, but the car is pulling FW and you can clearly see the rear wheel with smoke behind it. A quality photograph is key my friends.
-a mk2 is some gritty urban scene. In Philly we have many places to choose ;) but I think a mk2 (black pref) with just fogs on could look cool in a gritty area.
-a mk1 kicking ass somehow. Perhaps Damons car launching, or getting the jump on a much faster car at the track??

Gritty urban scene? Hmmm.....plenty of places like that around these parts like da South Bronx, parts of Brooklyn and Queens.

As long as you provide the body guards man....I'm in. However, typical of NYC urban areas - the streets are beat to sheeeeet. I'm cringing at subjecting my ride to those brutal potholes (bring me a kidney belt please).

I know some of y'all have built some beautiful engines. I personally would like to see some pics of the finest engine bays, or even better, a well-done 5m-gte fully dressed on an engine stand without any shop clutter in the background. That would be sweet.

I wonder if he meant the color scheme under the hood, the red cam gears and intake are sweet, but the red fuse box cover?? a bit much for me.
Oh, and are we not looking for a nice looking 5mgte not a 7mgte?
I'm gonna try and get some "night" shots of my dad's black 85P and see if they are calendar worthy. There are some "gritty" areas near here where I don't need a weapon, yet.

Jason, in response to your clearcoat turning yellow.
I did the same finishing job on my valve covers. (polished raised, gloss black lower and clearcoated the whole thing). I used a product from POR-15 called Glisten PC. it's a two part clearcoat which I bought for my wheels. I had some left over and used it on my valve covers and powersteering reservoir which were polished. it hasn't flaked, chipped or discoloured after a year of use. POR-15 said it's good to 350F and would work nicely for valve covers. so far so good! might be a solution for you in the future.

I have to give you props Moorman wow.
One suggestion I had wanted to make is is it possible to make the calendar backwards?
There are a lot less calendars out like this but it actually serves a purpose of not ripping at the mounting hole each new month.
You basically start January in the back and Decmeber in the front.. This way when its hung more pages are supporting the mounting hole and its very unlikely that wind or any such thing will cause the pages to rip...
Maybe thats not clear I can get some pics if I still have a similar calendar and its needed.
SupraFiend
02-09-2006, 02:59 PM
Wind? Maybe you should keep your calendars indoors :p Just joking. By the time summer rolls around (when its hot enough to have windows open), theres several pages on the top already. Reversing it would be the same problem, just at a different time of year. Now having 2 holes instead of one would solve that. Actually what works well is using one of those little picture hanging hooks instead of a nail or tack, as they are flat and support the paper better.

People ought to pay more attention to the little details when shooting for the calendar. Even this month's calendar photo was a really cool angle, but messed up because the one wheel you can see is missing the centercap. As we know from ebay photos, even a car that is a total junker can photograph well if the photographer takes the time to accentuate the good and camouflage the bad. As well as trying to be artistic, also pretend you are a scammer trying to sell your car on ebay. If you've only got two centercaps, put them both on the side of the car facing the camera.

does the burnout pic have to be of a pretty car? the v8 car will have a fresh coat of black primer and can destroy a set of tires in a hury. if the angle and timing is right all you should see is the nose and foglights sticking out of the clouds. as for launch hoping the v8 car can pull that one off to. with a set of slicks im pretty sure it will remove the front wheels from the track.

Nice try on the Slug, Matt!!!
This picture probably won't make it. The shot is a little too tight, the backround stuff is a little cluttered, (neighbor's building across the alley, plus Shawn's garage on the right). Then of course, the sun is facing right towards you. Needs to be off to the side, or behind you. Otherwise, the angle was good, just need to back up a little more (hard to do when there is a MR2 behind you), or zoom out a little more.
No biggy. BOTH the Redpra & the Silver Slug were in the 2004 calendar. The Redpra was Miss January & the Slug was Miss May. Remind me to bring the 2004 calendar the next time I see you, if you want to see it.

Hey, if your really gonna try retaking that second shot with the wheels turned the other way (not that you really need to, it's already a great shot), Can you take a shot or 2 with the headlights down and just the parklamps on. Just to compare and choose from, you know, since you are doing some reshooting anyway.
SkoonMA67
07-10-2006, 03:05 AM
Here are the re-takes! :D
These were all taken with a Digital Rebel 8megapixel so the resolution is just fine! There are actually 37 different shots, but these 4 stand out the best.

The only problem is that I have about 25 nice shots of my car.
I have copies of them resized for the internet, I'm still waiting on the fullsize copies.
I know my car isn't exactly picture-perfect material, but hey, I figured that'd be cool if this got in, and it can't hurt to try. Fullsize is avail. on request (PB resized it)

Thanks, her loss was rough for me, both emotionally and financially. It is a very intense story which I am open to talk about, but it is too complicated to even want to write about. Work, her bills, the previous loss of my dad, being an only child and 95% of my "family" backstabbing me is the surface of it.
I'd be interested to see those old emails, heh. It has been a loooong time.
Nice to see you are still around!

The owner of the MKI posted here about his "just finished restore" here over a month ago & I remember posting that it would look better if the spoiler was painted white as well. 15 minutes of searching & I could not find the thread.
Used several keywords & looked in the MKI section, Pictures section & the Intro section. Still can't find it.
Got one more possibility.......
(Edit)........ WOOHOO!!!!!!! I also remember asking about the difference between the 79 Paint Code 030 & the 80 - 81 Code 033. FOUND the thread & YES, the member IS HERE on the forums!! Amazing what you can find if you try harder w/ the search button!!!!

....this calendar is going to be tough to surpass. I just browsed over the last few pages of this thread, and those are some *amazing* shots you guys are getting! Un-f'n-believable. :drooling:

Mike will inform us as to when the calendar will be ready. Depends on when the finished product is done & it gets Mike's seal of approval.
Am also assuming that the calendar will be available via www.lulu.com again, like last year. Which means that the calendar will be available all year round. Unlike previous years where it was available in limited quantities (~100) & only available through a GP.

Two questions:
1) When do the new calendars generally become available (ballpark)?
2) Will the '06 calendars still be available after the '07s are out? ('06 is still available as of today when I looked). I want to get last year's as well, but might as well get both at the same time and save shipping if it will still be there.
Looking forward to getting some more MkIIs in my office!
