HI,
i have just discovered a VERY minty MKI.
unfortunately it is at a garage and has just had its front quarter and drivers door smashed in. the damage doesn't look too too bad. it will need a fender and a door and probably some front end parts as the back of the front wheel got hit.
I don't know too much about these cars (I have a MKIII) so i'm looking for a bit of advice.
Is this something that will be difficult to get parts for?
The mechanic tells me it runs great and its a shame it got schmucked.
i can get it cheap.
What do you guys think?

If you think it could be fixed easily, go for it. You don't see many MK I's around anymore.

It also depends on how easy it is to get parts? Thats my main question to the group. can i get front end parts cheap? body work is easy.

There should be enough contacts on this forum to help you find what you need.

The main issue is finding a donor MKI that has not been fubar'd on the left side. Around here in the PacNW, it's allot of "hit & miss". Either it's somewhat easy to get parts, or I go for a long dry spell of not finding any (over 8 months). The parts car would be a good candidate, BUT: A. Part of the lower left front fender got tweaked when myself & Mike had issues w/ removing the bolts for the Performance Package Airdam. So already those are not in great shape. B. I believe Ken wants both doors (based on my discussion on the phone w/ him).
This is the damage that was done to the fender during the spoiler removal. Had we not had any problems, Ken would have wanted this fender also.

Great.... Now we have even more peeps who need parts for MKI's & now I'm wishing that Johnny had kept his Red 81 parts car... Too bad it's now gone.
