Accel 300+ system

has anybody changed out the ignition in a 5mge (1983) to get rid of the ignitor box ???. I just got an Accel 300+ system which I was told would work but found out it will not. Well at least it will not unless you get a secondary trigger which hooks up to the original coil etc, which defeats the purpose.
My stock ignition is giving me fits and since a new ignitor costs more than I paid for the car I was looking for alternatives.

If I recall, the Accel unit (like others) will go inline with the stock igniter, not replace it.

If you would like a replacement igniter, used one that works great for $50.

I'm tempted to move this the General tech, but I'm gonna change the title to something a little more descriptive and keep it here since it's an aftermarket system.

I agree, it is more of a general help question, not really engine management.
