Hey everyone. I'm a new user to board and in need of serious help. I have a 1986 supra, that will turn over but will not fire. I have replaced the ECU, Distributor, coil, ignitor, cap and rotor, plugs, and coil-plug wires. I'm not getting fire from anywhere. People that I have talked to locally say that it's the theft deterrent system, or some switch in the door that is also associated with this system. I located a box in the dash right below the dash panel that I assume is the brains of it all. My question is this: Is there in fact a way to bypass this system, or check to make sure that this infact is the problem? Or could it possibly be some minor thing i'm missing? I would greatly appreciate any information.

Just want to double check first - is it a mark2? or a 86.5 mark3? Either way, I doubt your problem is with the alarm unless maybe someone mounted an aftermarket system

wdrmwvr I haqve hear dof this problem before with the mark 3 supras. The alarm goes bad and pretty much goes off but without hearing the alarm sound. In this state it will not allow the engine to start or run. I wish I had more to offer but that is all I know about it as my freind had a simliar problem a long time ago.

It is a 86.5 mk3. As to my knowledge there was never an aftermarket security system on it, atleast I can't find anything that suggests there is/was one installed. Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it. If you happen to come up with any ideas that would be great. Thanks again.

It is a 86.5 mk3.
As I suspected, I had that problem on one of my old mk3's. The theft deterrent computer for the mk3 is under the dash on the driver's side, to the right of the cruise control computer.
