I recently acquired an '85 Supra from a friend about a month ago and have been trying to get it running ever since. There is power to the ignitor but NO SPARK from the coil. If anyone could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated cause I really don't want to get rid of this car.

Please read through that (under no spark condition) and see if any of it helps.

Usually you can score an ignitor used for approx 50 bux... I dont know about aftermarket, but new Toyota will be 300+

My advice is borrow one from a friends' car to make sure that a replacement ignitor will solve the problem, then hit up some junkyards.

Ive replaced more than a few personally.

ok.............

so have you read the link I posted?
did you check the relays, fuses, grounds?
coils go bad too ya know... I would definitly say the coil will go bad before the ignitor... but since you replaced the ignitor, did you remember to put back the ground that goes under there?

Couple other things you could check:
-Make sure the timing belt is intact, pull off the top timing cover (I think it's 4-5 10mm bolts) see if there is tension on it.
-Check to make sure the timing belt/distributor turns when the engine cranks (this is my current issue on one of my cars).
-If you have a multimeter, check the vr sensor in the distributor. I don't remember exactly how to do that off the top of my head, but it's in the TRSM online. basicly just a quick resistance check.

Last question: how come this is in aftermarket engine management?
