Oversize sig pictures

I've been getting more frequent complaints about enormous pictures in sigs lately.

Remember, some people are still on dialup and use 800x600 resolution, which makes these huge sigs not only time consuming to download, but take up a LOT of space.

Unless otherwise posted elsewhere, let's keep the sigs no larger than 200x300 pictures. I'm going to give it a couple days before I start removing pictures from sigs.

Isn't there a setting to limit the size of sigs, like there is for avatars? That would save you from having to police it.

...that's why we have a gallery, so the people who want to see your bullshit can. Don't punish those who don't.

Maybe we should ban all pics in the sig, just put a link "See my Pics HERE" in thar if you want to show her off.

I like pictures in the sig, and I think banning them outright is a huge mistake for a car forum. It is a signature, and many of us identify ourselves with the car we drive. I think Zank's picture is a good size, but I don't think there is any need for any bigger than that. The gallery is a great place to go to see more detailed pictures etc., but we shouldn't have to click a link just to tell the difference between 2 posters with similar names.

I use sigs AND avatars to figure out who someone is without looking at the name.

There is an addon for vb 3.5 but if Malloy upgrades to vb 3.6, it is now built in. Either way the following can be controlled...

Size if image
Number of images
Amount of characters used
Number of lines
Use of BB codes and other tags
Size of font
Alignment

Right. I don't know jack about forum software, but I've used other forums where there's limits imposed automatically.

I like sig pictures and it'd be a shame to lose them, but some people go over the top and you have to wait ages for them to load up. I reckon a limit of 20Kb would allow reasonable pics without slowing everything down.

I don't mean to pick on you specifically Alex, but I noticed your sig in another thread and just had to say something. It takes up the whole screen! I'm serious, I can scroll to the point where I see nothing but pointless plugs for stuff you use, etc. I like the actual pic with the Corolla. But the rest of those banner things have got to go.

Some people have huge pics that are just completely unneccesary. Not to mention some huge pics that are just terrible quality. I like sig pics, quotes, car lists, etc. but the whole thing is getting out of hand. If you have major amounts of info to share then have a link in your sig but don't turn the friggin thing into a billboard. Try and be considerate of the other users.
