Anyone ever put that tornado booster in their car? I heard about it a long time ago when they still had infomercials on tv and I know they have one for our cars. Let me know if you have and if it made a big difference for you. In case you don't know what I'm talking about either, its something you put into the intake hose which causes incoming air to come in like a tornado I guess... 0_o haha alright then. Take care all... adyos

Wow, I saw that infomercial. I don't know whether that thing would actually make a difference. My guess is not.

Because if it really worked...would they sell it on infomercials at 2:30 in the morning?

Sticker is about +5hp... the actual parts gives you about -10-20hp due to lack of air getting into the engine.

Sport Compact Car actually tested this item a few years back on several different cars. The consensus was that it's claims were not justifiable, and any benefit in hp or mileage noticed was negligeable and could be explained by one of several different reasons. I'd stay away personally, it's just another restriction in the intake when you think about it.

If you could stick a $1 piece of sheet metal in the intake and get their claims every automaker on the planet would use one. This one goes up their with the cow magnets and magic pills in the gas tank.

Just like the electric super charger for 40.00 on ebay.

And all it is a evac pump to suck the fumes out of the engine bay on a boat before you start it so you dont blow up but what gets me is people buy this crap.

Kinda like warning labels you know someone has had to do it for it to be put on a label

Do you think that anyone has EVER thrown the pin and dropped the grenade?

I saw a warning label once that said "Pushing safety switch rope upwards can cause machine malfunction". Since when has anyone been able to *push* a rope?

I wonder what the safety labels on that shoulder-launched nuclear weapon we developed in the 1950's would say? Maybe something like "Upon weapon discharge, place head between legs and kiss your ass goodbye". I think the thing had a 1-mile range.

Upon setting up a machine incorrectly, I have made rope that you could go spear fishing with.

Yes, my friend was in basic and someone did that.

If you think about it.... YOU'd have to have air PUSHING into the tornado to make it spin like a vortex. maybe 50psi would work?. with a NA car it's pulling air in. It's just a restriction. That and the tornado affect would not last all the way into the engine... maybe just a bit passed it. so you'd need a tornado about 1' long with multiple laps to really get stuff spinning. and you'd want the tornado afect INSIDE the intake manifold. so just above the injectors but behind the TB.

Thinking for a moment "how could it possibly work", I thought that the only way to get it to save gas would be to put it directly in front of the AFM so that air going in this 'vortex' would not reduce in volume but reduce in pressure just enough to cause the AFM to inaccurately detect actual volume and thus lean the mixture ever so slightly.

This is the only way I can think of that it could theoretically work, and it is hokey at best and relies on the makers of the product to have advanced knowledge of fluid dynamics that I think are beyond their capacity. Plus, this mod could be done just as easily by adjusting the AFM. Or by placing a restrictor before the AFM. Or by placing a resistor inline (series) with the AFM.

Shopping for cars for work a came accross an blurb, I don't remember for what make but it said "sequential valve timing" I laughed so hard. I guess if you can't get variable you get sequential. Hey! My Supra has SVT :D They all open one cylinder after the other:zzzzz:

You want an intake mod that really increases power do what I did...

I'm just kidding don't really do it.

Sept 2005 issue of pouplar science. They actually tested all the gas mileage increasing devices they could find on a dyno. None of them worked, most decreased milage and horspower, and 1 or 2 caused physical damage to the vehicle. If I can find the article I'll post it.
