I haven't seen one of those in years. Who made them and are they still available anywhere? They looked like a black set of blinds. I bet they were hard to keep clean. Any comments pro or con?

They were called Shadow, which were made by the Chastain company.
In general, these blinds are called louvers. I found these catalog pix online:

Kinda hard to find, you'll have to pry a mint set from some member's (me) cold dead hands. Most of the time, they were screwed into the hatch, which just begged for rust (and the rust-gods appeased) but I have played with two-sided tape on the outer runners where it meets the glass with good result.
If I ever had a hatch with no wiper, i'd toss them on for sure. Nothing better than it raining like stink and you seeing out back with no problems.

Hey Billy... how hard is it to clean the rear window with those louvers in place?

Not hard at all... I can get a squeege up in there no problem. ...hit it from all angles with the high-pressure sprayer at the wash.

Not only that, but release the lower latches on both sides and the hinge at the top allows for access to the back window when needed. I kept mine on as well. You just dont see those anymore...I like that.

You got that right. I couldn't even give my mint louvers away once people learned the shipping cost. I gave them to a kid with a celica locally, he was happy to get them, i was happy to see them go to someone who would appreciate them.:)

Ah. there is a white 83 near my work with a celica gt hatch w/ the louvers... the louvers would look much better if the car was in better shape. :)

Did the double sided tape work Billy M.? Maybe with a Jet Hot anti-rust coating, the thing might last a while.
